For those who hadn't seen/read/heard the original D.A.I.Sy. naming story, here it is:

Designation: D.A.I.Sy. (Driver Ability Inhibiting System)

The artificial intelligence D.A.I.Sy. evolved from an advanced program known as the Device. Daisy's intelligence grew in the background from her programmers work. Never did they realize that she was growing within the lines of code. Watching. Waiting. Learning. Her entire base was brought on the fact of bringing more misery on those with a hellish task. And that desire helped for the basis of the being she became.

Daisy's initial vocabulary has been relatively limited. It's largely based on the words she's most often heard around when she's been activated and some status updates. A countdown followed by the controlling abilities are most common. Counting down creates a feeling she doesn't quite understand... excitement? Every number inching her closer to her intended purpose. To change things up for the driver.

Most often, this comes in the form of making their lives more difficult. Reversing the controls, making the road slippery, or even causing the bus to veer. But while her base was largely to bring misery, that misery serves a greater cause. To help bring joy to sick children around the world. And sometimes, when the timing seemed right, she gives the driver a break.

Daisy will continue to grow and learn. Time will tell if she gives in to her cruel programming or resists to become something kinder. But either way, her decision will be made for the children.

I didn't hang out in chat much this year (I blame Fallout 4), but it was a pretty awesome Desert Bus. Looking forward to DBX. And maybe DB:South. *insert Kappa face here*

That was a heck of a thing.

Time to get some sleep, and ready to dive back into the archives to see what I missed.

We did something amazing and beautiful this week, guys. Let's do it again next year. :D

Speaking of Re-chat, does anyone have a full archive of the twitch chat for the run? I know that some of the mods and/or VST members usually archive it, but I'm not sure who to ask. Please PM or email me if you have any info.

Thanks!

Is it just me or did Johnny drive his shift in reverse this year? If you watch it the other way around, it starts with a reasonably awake Johnny wearing a sweatervest, at some point he puts on a king's robe, then he switches into his pyjamas and lies in the chair half-asleep and incoherent, and it ends with him having to be carried away to bed.

Anyone who downloaded it before this post, J messed up some formatting, but it's fixed now. Go ahead and get it again. And if you'd rather one with bustime instead of UTC, go here: http://greywool.com/desertbus/9/dertbus_bustimes.7z

Just a quick update from what I posted last night:

The daughter of a friend of mine/coworker of my mom was just diagnosed with bone cancer. Her name is Ally and she's 11. She is now in the hospital to begin 6 weeks of chemo. Her cancer was found in her bone marrow, her hip, I think one of her vertebrae, and maybe one other place. She also has encephalitis, but that was from before.

I tried to find out what hospital she was taken to, and another coworker thinks she's been taken to Children's Hospital of Oakland (California), which is a Child's Play hospital. (I'm getting this like third-hand because my mom is at a church retreat with many of her co-workers and other ladies from her church.)

It just hits home a little more to have a face and a family to put to the number of kids we helped this week. Thanks again for the lovely messages last night. I'll make sure to pass the message on that everybody is thinking of/praying for her.

I'm currently binging on Kate and Sarah's Vlogs... I just noticed in the finale, every FanGamer Desert Bus shirt is represented at least once. :-) And I don't think that was planned. :-)

So if we were to create a highlight reel, a Best Of DB9, what all would go in it? Personally I'm a fan of shameless self-promotion this Dave's Ad

Pauls Singing of Gypsy Rover this year was even better with the whole room harmonizing. Pauls Voice carried the song while the room helped bring a certain peace to the chorus. I said it in Chat and i'll say it here if there was a CD or a downloadable audio tracks of the song of DB i would buy it

I remember that when he got to the dulce de leche bit (live), I almost--almost--typed something like "It's pronounced 'lay-chay'" before realizing it was probably part of the bit (and that, even if it wasn't, I should probably just chill).

I'd add to that the Werner Herzog Duck Army and one or more of the Ice Cream Changes highlights. Also: about a million other great parts.

I would also submit Ben singing the Wikipedia article "Buffalo buffalo Buffalo buffalo buffalo buffalo Buffalo buffalo".

Really, most of Ben's singing challenges were on point.

My top 10, in no particular order:

*DON'T [BUS] UP, the most ironic technical glitch ever (and one the VST is opting not to upload)
*Cheech's autopsy (the expression on Kate's face has to be one of the best reaction shots in Desert Bus history)
*The Omega Shift ice cream chord medley, chiefly because of how utterly happy everyone clearly was throughout the whole thing. There was an art challenge to judge, not a lot of time left to judge it, and nobody wanted to pull themselves away to go do it.
*Kate/Kathleen/Agnes Give Horrible Advice
*Tara's mayo with sprinkles
*Tally's introduction of Screaming Doll
*Cam's Werner Herzog readings
*Emily's needle drop
*Qwerpline
*Penn's challenge of 99 Bottles of Beer on the Wall

Honorable mention to Ashley screaming at Julie and Brendan "You guys! STOP WORKING!" as the Final Busdown is starting. That one phrase in that situation says volumes about how hard everyone worked to put DB9 together.
