My friends went to Japan last year, and they have so many pictures of Japanese people doing the peace sign. Also, japanese exchange students came, they did it as well. I've heard that if Americans (the United States kind) go to Japan, they're pretty much pop stars, everone loves them. But I could be wrong, apparently people can kill themselves from being treated so badly...

I USED to watch:
Dragonball
Dragonball Z
Yu Yu Hakasho

Man, those shows were the shit. When I was in 4th-6th grades ish, I loved them so much. I also enjoyed reading the Naruto graphic novels, as my friend has almost all of them. I might just pick them up again and read them.
We always make fun of my brother's friend, we know he looks at hentai. My friend might draw him pictures of naked people for his birthday as a joke lol

Sure, it's fun to be a novelty, but the level of academic apartheid is ridiculous. To put it simply, if you didn't get your education in Japan, you have close to no hope in getting a job which requires tertiary education.

That's not preserving their culture, it's flat out discrimination.

This proves nothing. Hitman is one mean dude with some 1337 h4x0ring skillz, and probably stole poor Senor Rodrigo's log in to confuse you.
"I swear it," said the other mother. "I swear it on my own mother's grave."

"Does she have a grave?" asked Coraline.

"Oh yes," said the other mother. "I put her in there myself. And when I found her trying to crawl out, I put her back."

Actually, I was just using his computer. We're roommates for a new wacky MTV series where students who have applied themselves and achieved good grades get to live with former Communist Party officials from all over the globe.

It's called High Marx.

Youtube has a bunch of anime uploaded, since I can't bother to download them from DC or anything.

I am, as always, watching rediculous amounts of One Piece.

The only problem is as soon as 4kids got there grubby little hands on it and took every last strand of awesome from the show, everyone see's it as a mockery.

But seriously, Original subbed, Japanese One Piece done by Kaziakou (sp?) Fansubs is one of the most amazing series I have ever seen, It has the perfect blend of childish stupidy, Raw brute power with awesome fight scenes with tug at the heart strings emotional bits.

Hmm.. Im need to finish my collection so I have up to Episode 200.

Oh! Im also going to be watching Gundam Seed soon.. Soon! >.<

And Graham, I trust youve seen the Cowboy Bebop film, the one with all them little blue marbles with that drug that made people die. That was a great film! Ah, I can still remember when I used to stay up till 4am to watch that show on Toonami.. when it used to be good..

Which is also why I brought the Outlaw Star series, That was awesome.

Which reminds me of a question. Has anyone watched the new gundam seed episodes? The short OVA series off of GS destiny. I wan't to know if it's worth my time watching. I may just end up watching it tho so I can say i've seen all of gundam seed, destiny, astray and the new one.

I started watching anime about a year ago.

I find it's interesting compared to Western TV, but there are certain characteristics of anime which I find strange and/or annoying. I attribute these characteristics to cultural differences, and also to different cliche's that seem prevalent over there...

That said, certain shows can be really quite funny, intelligent and the rest.

I'd stop short of calling myself a fan though. The genre as a whole is pretty terrible, and even the good shows are mired in stuff too weird or boring to really get me that excited...

But maybe it's just the stuff I've watched? I haven't seen much.

Well I have a confesstion to make. I have not actually been watching any anime recently. When I lived in Japan I bought all I could find of my favorite anime, Digicharat, other than that I am in the dark about what anime are popular. I use the internet and I talk to a lot of people at conventions to find out what I should pay attention to. Its sad I know.

I also got in a HEAP of trouble at anime evolution because I called anime "Cartoons"
I'm out of the loop but I love making hats!!!!!! I cant stop.

Anime is not a genre, its a medium. You can't say that "movies" is a genre.

Ghost in the shell, science fiction
Sex Demon, erotic/comedy
One Piece, adventure/comedy
Most of Studio Ghibli, adventure/drama
Gravitation, pride/romance
Excel Saga, cocaine
Noir, drama/thriller(?)
Haibane Renmei, drama
Serial Experiments: Lain, cocaine

I haven't seen enough to give more examples, but already you can see there we have sci-fi, comedy, drama, romance, thrillers.

That makes sence. Voice actors in japan are trained a HELL of a lot more then the shit we have here. Of course there still are some great ones here, the anime translators hire novice voice actors with barely any experience or talent to do the voices; whatever is cheapest. (Plus they like to dumb down older teen content to child level, so you get 3rd-grade-musical style speaking.)

Plus their voices are so exotic. Same reason I am in love with Fran from Final Fantasy 12.

Now THATS stupid. Them, I mean, not you. Anime is the word for cartoon in japanese. To the wapanese it only means cartoons from asia. They're just being overly obsessive.

I can understand their fuss though. When I think cartoons, I think Bugs Bunny, Donald Duck etc. But it is a silly note no less.
