So I go to HMV today...

Postby Brad » 05 Jan 2007, 02:50

Was looking for Yojimbo or Seven Samurai. Hard to find these days on account of it being from the 60's and foreign, but sometimes you see it. Anyway, I asked the clerk about it and apparently it's coming out at the end of the month for the first time, for about 60 bucks. I ended up getting a collecter's edition of all three "Man With No Name" movies (Fistful of Dollars, A Few Dollars More and The Good, The Bad, and the Ugly), which are an american version of Yojimbo. I mention it in passing to the checkout girl who helped me look for the japanese versions earlier and as she's putting my stuff away, she nonchalantly turns to the back counter and does something.

I get home and pull my HMV bag out of my backpack and find it stuffed full of coupons with a phone number in a heart written on my receipt.

Anyone want HMV coupons?

so I went into HMV the other day to pick up 24 season 5, simpsons season 8, snakes on a plane, emily haines' knives don't have your back, wolf parade's appologies to the queen mary , and malajube's trompe-l'oleil, using my coupon for 25$ off a 150$ purchase. I tried to go find the stuff, and asked the girl at the counter if they had season 8 of the simpsons in. and she was like "no." And I didn't get anything.

Can't close the deal. See, I'm already locked in my contract. Pretty sweet one too. She must've mistaken me for a free agent.

That was funnier in my head. On the page its just sort of... "oh... he's doing something there."

Still I have 87 HMV coupon books. Horray! I will never use this many...

Really the only thing for it is to use this power for good. And by good I mean material gain.

I wonder if I can make those ASIMO Robots explode with hip thrusting action... because if I can, and those bloody human-imitating death robots from Japan try to take over, surely we might have a dance off to shake the very roots of society, winning me the hearts and coupon books of all who observe.

Not even the first time it's happened either. Over xmas I had to politely let down an attractive asian wine-seller. It's nice to be reminded that one still has it. Whatever it might be.
