Spooky. I was just thinking about an LRR IRC channel, as I was getting my breakfast. This all before I'd even looked at my PC....

Hopefully an unofficial IRC channel will lead to more chatting on it, and less chatting on the forums. Some of the recent problems come from treating the "Post" feature as if it were IM.

Unless if suffers from MegaIdle like most IRC channels do.
Like now for instance. I'm in a room with Patch... and silence... not a word is being uttered, no matter how much i 'emote' craziness.

That's because I was fixing some lunch :P

Anyhoo, I've done a little bit of work on the channel. Gotten us a channel services listing, all the tools, etc. Updated the old URL, and info listings for the channel, etc, etc, etc.

Blitzed's ChanServ bot is horribly made, yet features everything you need to stop nub operators from screwing your stuff up...
*Edit*
What Ill will need is for someone to decide a kind of heirarchy to use. And everyone who is going to be in it needs to get nickserv accounts, or it won't work properly... Info about their NickServ stuff is http://www.blitzed.org/help/services/nickserv.phtml <-- there

It won't be everyone though, just the people that the LRR crew decide need things like auto-op, and auto-voice
It's either that, or I leave my PC on all the time, which would then stop me from going to sleep until, ooh, 6am when I'm exhausted...

But Graham said he was happy to join in but didn't want to do any work. i.e. they shouldn't have to decide things.
I don't know what auto-op or auto-voice is, but it sounds unnecessary.

Don't worry about it. Patch can deal.
Since Alex made the channel i assume he'll be an op. Then we'll probably need one more stateside op and we've got it covered.

He won't have to do anything, I've pretty much got the whole thing setup now. It's just obviously I'd like to give teh LRR crew full access to the channel, and there's 2 ways of doing that. Letting the server sort it out, or having my PC on all the time, with a script to set the ops, voiced, etc up.
Either way, I'd like to give a successor to someone who knows what they're doing. Chanserv on Blitzed is a bitch to get round sometimes...

Is anyone there now?

We really need to set a specific time. Last night we discussed doing it at the same time today - that was 7:00 Vancouver time, 10:00 Toronto time. I don't know what the times are where everyone else is.

Me, Patch and Pjotr will pretty much be on here constantly now whilst we're awake. So there should always be atleast 1 person in the room.

So do we have a set day and time?

7pm PST or shall we say LRR time sounds good to me.

http://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/ is a world clock. Just find a city that you know is in your time zone. (most likely a capital city of sorts)

I think this is deserving of a sticky. Maybe this and the map thing, LRR Around the World, as well.

Too many people now. Even when I know the right trivia answer, I can't get it to show up in time.

Trivia blows. I like just talking to people.
