I have a theory that simply going back in time for just for a second and without been seen you could change history and depending how far back you go the bigger the change.

Hmm... I have a weird feeling, since time is a man-made concept, that time travel is impossible. Because technically, time doesn't exist and is irrelevant, but ACTIONS are not. Like.. everything decomposes because of actions, day and night exist because of the action of the sun moving and the Earth rotating and such.

So I'm not sure if you could travel back in time... would be cool though.

Time is not a man-made concept. Only the way in which we measure it is.

You travel forewards in time everyday.

My gut feeling is that it is not possible to travel backwards in time.

Sadly that is all we have to rely on in this case.

I heard if you move faster then speed of light you can go back in time but since traveling at the speed is said to be impossible going back in time is also impossible. To go forward time you could freeze yourself or go in to space and somehow make everyone on earth move almost at the speed of light.

It is slightly easier for you to travel fly away from the earth and then fly back at near the speed of light rather than have the earth fly away and then fly back to you. These two cases are not equivalent since different objects accerate in each.

Why would anyone want to travel to the future? We've all seen Zardoz. I would go to the past. Where there was dinosaurs. And horrible pre-historic diseases.

The thing about travelling forward in time everyday... if my theory is correct.. we don't travel forward in time every day, the sun just moves a certain way every day and certain actions in our body happen every day. It's not really us going forward in time... specifically.. it's kinda weird.

Ahhh xkcd... The best comic about math EVER. My personal favourite is the one about centrifugal force.

Back on topic however, I don't believe it's possible. Time travel seems to suggest some sort of historical backlog that would allow you to view/interact with past events which seems impossible to me (or the suggestion of some sort of inevitable fate that could be visited). Of course I haven't put in too much time studying the theories about time travel.
I'm a very boring person.

I don't think time travel is possible, or at least the whole BTTF kind. Isn't it true that you can leave some place at a certain hour and fly to somewhere else and arrive technically an hour before you left? That's time travel... kinda.

My thoughts exactly. On both accounts. If time travel were real, why do we have crappy life styles now? Why didn't some one come back to save us from our stupidity? And if they did come back they've already screwed up and lost the technology.

And on the flying thing, if you could get a plane flying fast enough the opposite way around the world, wouldn't time technically be standing still as long as you remained on that same velocity?

Because it would be going against the Prime Directive... duh.

Its the Temporal Prime Directive silly. The prime directive prohibits contact with Pre-warp civilizations.

I saw a very compelling documentary where they displayed a man flying at top speeds around the earth, thus spining it backwards and making time go backwards.

What are you talking about? It sounds like Star Ocean but I'm not sure.
