By saying "I am finished university" Matt is saying his status, which is 'finished university.' He is not saying what he has done.

'finished university' is not a status. 'done' would be a status. 'finished' would be a status. 'done/finished with university' would be a status.

No, no it doesn't.

Melendwyr is right.

If someone actually used that sort of grammar in a conversation with me I would have to laugh at them, because it sounds really funny ... and wrong.

No, 'I finished university' would be proclaiming the completion of an action, not the status of the object.

Wow, y'all finish school up there quickly! I don't have finals week until the second week of May.

Of course, many congratualtions are in store for you, Matt. All roasting done by the crew and forum is out of total admiration.

So in the tradition of the Penn State Glee Club (imagine about 50 metro-macho guys doing this):

hip hip... HOORAY

hip hip... HOORAY

hip hip...

EAT SHIT DOG FUCKER!!

So glad I quit that years ago...

Seriously though, Congrats.

Hey, way to go Matt! *throws confetti around* More WoW time for you.

I highly look forward to getting done with college myself, as it will be taking me longer than the two years as planned.

Let it be known that I have been finished University since December.

So there.

Congratulations Matt. When do you have to convocate in front of everyone?

Also, the Rathskeller in Victoria is the best German restaurant that I have ever been to, and is not All American at all. They have an accordian player.
"I swear it," said the other mother. "I swear it on my own mother's grave."

"Does she have a grave?" asked Coraline.

"Oh yes," said the other mother. "I put her in there myself. And when I found her trying to crawl out, I put her back."

Funny too, cuz ours is pretty much a huge shithole. Hippies hang out there, and not even the cool ones.

The moral of the story is that you should live in Victoria.

It only means "Town Hall Cellar". Every city would have one - and quite a few have taverns.

The Rathskeller is pretty good but a little heavy on the dead mammal for my taste.

Who doesn't like dead mammals though?

Perverts and subversives, that's who.

So true. One of my friends in my program at Uvic is from Saskatchewan and is no hurry to go back. Neither is the girl from a small town in northern Alberta.

tak197, my brother goes to St. Thomas University in New Brunswick (Canada), which also has a campus that offers the exact same stuff down in Texas. His roommate is a guy from Mexico who found it was cheaper to come all the way up here then go to Texas. Point is, it's probably cheaper for you to come up here and go to UVic or somewhere then to go to a university in the states.
