Attention Raver Kids!

Check out Justice.I have been pimping this french duo for a while (I got an older song of thiers onto the Sticky Wicket's playlist), and now I insist you all check out Phantom, a taste of things to come on their upcoming album.

Even if you do not like electonic music, you will like this. It has a distinctly EVIL feel.

NOT A RAVER KID!

Jeeze Kathleen. :P

Although, I am reading a book called "How to be a Villain right now...
"I swear it," said the other mother. "I swear it on my own mother's grave."

"Does she have a grave?" asked Coraline.

"Oh yes," said the other mother. "I put her in there myself. And when I found her trying to crawl out, I put her back."

Pretty cool! Has a fairly distinct un-rave feel, but that is just pedantics. :) I like!

Okay now I am about 2:20 in and the noises are really screechy and I don't like them. But I liked everything before that.

I will definitely probably look into this. Thanks, Kathleen!

I'll be in that hole with you. Stabbing you for the Neopets thing. Damn I hate those things, I had a friend back in public school who was CONSTANTLY talking about Neopets. You've brought up some horrible memories.

Anyways, the music's alright but I'm too much of a guitar/theory nerd to like electronic music. I'm not saying it doesn't have merit, I just don't really like electronic noises.
I'm a very boring person.

is that really the best sampling of their music? I listen to a lot of techno music and go to about one rave a year, that was really not that great to me.
Maybe if I heard the whole album I could make a better judgment but the music was breaking up in kinda a crappy way.

I'm pretty sure that breaking up was intentional. Kinda like a really weird uneven tremolo.

I love electronic music, but the one rave I went to was an abysmal experience. Everyone there was on drugs and I had to stay up until 3:00am with no food babysitting someone I knew who was rolling on E.

It was horrible.

Music was good though.

I've told you, you probably just went to a shitty one! Or just go with people who don't do drugs.

I agree. there are bad ones out there. you need to go with some better friends that either don't do drugs or that can control themselves.

Oh, for sure. The idea of an electronic dance party highly appeals to me.

I just need to find one that isn't populated by sad, vapid drug addicts.

Any ideas?

The evil sounding breakups are intentional, it is kind of Justice thing to have a break about two minutes in.

Sorry you kids do not like the biggest names in house/remixing right now.
Also, Justice classify themselves as a house duo, which is why I sarcastically titled this thread "attention raver kids".

Well there's this thing called "Darkrave" that happens every month down at this club downtown... But I'm not sure what kind of scene it is.

It's the same venue they use for the fetish masquerades....

I can at least be certain there will be tons of gravers there.

Give this a shot, it's a bit easier on the ears:
http://download.ravevictoria.com/sets/W ... ection.mp3
DJ Wes's "Wes Side Connection" set.

Or, better yet:
http://download.ravevictoria.com/sets/p ... _Level.mp3
DJ Ph0ng's "On The Level" set.
The single greatest set I've found on Rave Victoria.

Check 'em both out, but be warned: They're large files.
(Just over an hour of music, each.)

And here's my thoughts on the "Evil Rave" bit:
We tried it[b].
It was called the Full Moon Vampire Masquerade, and it went horribly.
We had a private venue, and all sorts of costume gear and a wonderful lineup for our music.
Unfortunately, all the DJ's, except for two, jacked off and decided to spin Happy Hardcore, D&B, House, and Jungle.
No fucking good at all.

And there's [b]no
way you will get rid of the E, pot, K, Acid, and 'Shrooms at a Rave.
I regularly attend parties hosted by Breakbeat Island and Pump House Productions, and drugs STILL get past the trained security staff.
It's the nature of the parties, kids.

If you can find a location, verify it with the VCPD, and get some other DJ's: We can do this.

Good luck.

I agree that it is hard to find a rave without drugs. Its really almost impossible to do so in Victoria, but you can still have fun without doing them. When I was a teenager I went to dozens of raves and never did any drugs.

Those dj sets aren't bad, I have a few from ravevictoria.com, but if you want some good trance you have to check out Mixotic
Their website was mixotic.net but for some reason that isn't working... But their myspace is working at http://www.myspace.com/mixotic

really this site has some of the best djsets I have ever heard.

Kathleen: I realize it was on purpose, I just didn't really like it. Oh well! It happens. I
was also going to say that it sounded like you wanted a dark rave, as well - though there would probably still be some e-tards.

And hey, hey, hey - the rainbow nitwits aren't all bad. The music is tons of fun, and the people who aren't on E or K tend to be really cool.

And, Alex: I can definitely help you find not-crappy raves. For shurez.
