[ART] Pathfinder & Conan (4/29/07)
A WIP inspired by the movie Pathfinder, which I really dug once I started think of it like Conan...

But that picture looks really cool.
It's not, actually... just forget that it's supposed to be set in America, and imagine it's set in Hyboria
Let me just say I hope the next Conan movie is like Pathfinder. It did Conan better than Conan did...

You should totally make that dude look more like Karl Urban. That man is dreamy. That's the reason I'm going to see it, of course...
yeah, it's out... I actually saw it opening night.
Only complaint was that it deserves a "Most In Need Of A Tripod" award

*giggles*
Indian in the Cupboard...lol...

Since I decided that a Loincloth is not a smart idea for a warrior. I never understood how artists could draw him in Scale mail, with horned helmets and bracers, carrying a shield... but he still wore no pants!!
This is my Conpect of Conan. How I'd have him look if I were drawing him or designing a new movie.

Some of the targets of the Vikings were churches and monastery which had more silver candle sticks, bejeweled books, gold crosses and such than the peasants hovels. Perhaps adding the horns made the vikings that much more demonic.
We are all made of star dust. However we are also made of nuclear waste.
Remember to think before you post.

There is no physical evidence, at all, whatsoever, for Vikings or any other Norsemen to have ever worn horned helmets.
The entire concept was spawned from the discovery of a very famous ship burial, the Sutton Hoo mound. The helmet you see on that page is perhaps the most famous norse helmet ever found.
That helmet originally had a series of decorational images across the dome, above the eyes and face. One of these images featured human figures wearing helmets with horn-like protrusions. However, those same protusions have also been likened to wings, as well as several other possible symbols.
There are no helms existing that have, or had horns on them. There are no written records of horned helmets. There are no indications that any helmets ever had horns. There is simply one image, on one helm, crudely showing something that might be horns on a helmet worn by a human figure that we have no clue as to the basis or origin of.
And don't even get me started on mice and cheese! They simply do not eat cheese! It's a misconception, and it is so horribly stupid!
Also, lemmings do not leap off cliffs, at least not naturally. That is all.
