Introduce yourselves! (A friendly topic for new members)

Postby Kathleen » 14 Aug 2004, 18:19

HI!

I'm Kathleen, and as you can probably guess, I'm a cartoonist, and a regular of this little forum group.
Now, I see that we have 73 users, but I don't really recognize 73 regular posters.
Now, forums are always kind of like an, "in group" and when you don't know anyone in that group, it's kind of hard to get into the swing of things. However, the best way is to just introduce yourself, and what you like, where you're from, etc, and maybe you'll make some new friends.
I myself, am very friendly, and I would love to get to know some of the people on this board, so please, tell us about yourselves!

I'll start off by talking about me:
Kathleen
23 yrs old, lives in Prince George B.C., Canada.
Loves, comics, silliness, music (Muse, Blur, Death Cab for Cutie, Modest Mouse, plaid, Boards of Canada, to name a few) meeting new people (nudge), Scary go Round, Douglas Adams, Terry Pratchett.
I work as a reporter, and I'm finishing up a degree in Political Science this year.

And now.... you?
HOLY SHIT GUYS! BEARS!

I really like this idea, Kathleen, we do want more people involved.
Hence, I have made this topic "Sticky."

No jokes about that.

I would suggest making this a forum under the "General" column, but... that's just crazy old me, I guess.

Oh, shit, well, I guess since I'm posting here, I'll do that thingy with the thinging thing.
Also, no comment, G. None, whatsoever.

Since this isn't an AA meeting, I'm not going to go with my whole life story, like Mike. My life's just not so interesting as his, anyway. *shrugs*

I tend to be a fairly simple guy. I'm 21, my name is, ironically, Allen!, and I have a love of emo music of all kinds(yes, there is emo-metal and emo-techno). I live in Vancouver, BC, since I moved here from Victoria about a year ago.
Uh.... I really don't have anything interesting to talk about in a forum setting! Feel free to ask me any question, and I will answer it to the best of my ability. I have no real personal boundaries, but I don't tend to give out lots of information all at once, so... Nyah!

Oh, and my life isn't very interesting...
Now I do know people with seriously interesting lives, I just don't count myself among them.

That wonderously gory pic must be from the passion of the christ! Which I'm not going to ever watch... ever. ever.
Life stories? Um... mine is less interesting, but I'm not going to share.
However, despite my not wanting to share, it's not a put down for you Mike. That's incredible that you've come far enough to be able to share stuff like that. Good for you.

Does anyone else want to share? You don't have to tell about all your traumas or anything... just what music you have to like.

Mike, Kathleen?
Way off topic, aight?
There's a purpose behind this thread. There's a bunch of people who don't post and we want them to feel included. In this particular thread, it's not helping.
(Not meaning to sounds like a jerk, just pointing out ^_^)

The Headbomb FAQ

Real Name: Gaëtan Landry
Sex: Male
Height: 5'7"
Weight: 170 pounds
Hair: Dark Brown
Eyes: Brown

Q: Headbomb, you're so hot the polar ice caps are melting since your were born. How come you aren't on GREENPEACE's Blacklist?

A: Well you see, before 2000, before realising how hot I was, the polar ice caps were melting at an insane rate. Now I realised what a big impact I had on mother nature, thus now I compensate by alternating between beeing plain cool and beeing hot while beeing cool. Of course since I was exclusively hot for 16 years, temperature will still rise until 2016 where it will stabilise. Then it'll start cooling down until 2022 when I'll start alternating between beeing hot, and beeing cool while beeing hot. I'll be that way until 2030 and then global temperature will be at 1984's level.

Q: What does your name signify?

A: Truth is, I was playing a game way back then (it was on the N64 but I don't remember which), and I needed a name. So I made one up. I thought "headbomb v" sounded cool and so I picked it and it stuck. Sometime during summer '00 , I was banned for an unknown reason thus I created a new account to get around. I dropped the V since it was kinda pointless.

Now "headbomb" can make a reference to my sometimes very weird way of thinking. Also I always think of stuff. Thus my head is a bomb.

Q: Why don't you have a girlfriend.

A: Mother Nature's work. Since I'm so hot or so cool, no girl could handle me. But Mother Nature makes the girls think I'm too good for them (duh) or tricks 'em into thinking I'm not the guy for them. A very complex self-defense mechanism, which acts as a hotness overload protector.

Q: Why don't you have a boyfriend?

A: NO MORGAN I AM NOT SLEEPING WITH YOU!

Q: There is a rumor Jesus is considering you for his second coming. Are you Jesus II?

A: No comment. All questions regarding this must be addressed to [email protected] or [email protected]. Sometimes they have server problems so you might want to try ifuckededjesus'[email protected] or [email protected]

Q: What do you do for a living?

A: I'm specialising in physics at Université de Moncton. I'll be undertaking my 3rd year comes september. As a summer job, I work under a teacher as Research Assisant. I basically do all the lab work, prepartion, results compilation etc... and he tries to understand what is going on. It is a very rewarding job, and is tons of fun. I plan to do more R&D as my career progress.

Q: What is your dream car?

A: For a very long time it was the Dodge Viper, but now I'm more intersted in stuff I could actually buy. The Nissan 350Z is my dream car. The only problem I have with is it's a 2-seater. Other than that, it's tip-top.

Q: What is your favourite movie?

A: Most certainly Pulp Fiction. This movie is perfect. I particularly love the scene where Mia (Uma Thurman) and Vincent in the restaurant. It takes forever, it's paced like a real date, and the music is awesome. Best scene in any movie hands down. Also anything Jules say is quotable. Heck, this whole movie is a quote.

Q: Do you have any particular interest(s)?

A: Most definetaly. The number one on the list would certainly be music. Before ninth grade, I never listened to anything. Then my mom got me Americana from The Offspring. That kinda kicked things off. I did have run-ins with music before, playing trombone in a jazz band (played from grade 9 to 12) etc... but THAT is the one that got me in punk/metal and from there, to other genres. I was in a punk/heavy metal phase for about 3 years and recently I'm really getting deep in Rock. Led Zep, BLACK SABBATH!, Deep Purple etc... I eventually started to play guitar (and lovin' it). I had a band named Army of Leprechauns, then renamed to Wasted. We played about 4 times (shows I mean), then University came and that fucked things for the band.

I also am a movie freak (but not to the extent of memorising every quotes / directors etc, even though I know a few, and I have a few directors I consider gods...). I just like movies in general a lot, and loves great movies...

I also like to drive around pointlessly, party, talk about politics/actuality, read books of various kinds, laugh, cook (I think it's a phase though), chicks, physics, games, etc.

Q: What kind of guy are you?

A: Well, the answers above gives you a good idea of what I like, don't like. I think the somewhat extensive responses can transmit my appreciation of intelligence (I'm not saying that I'm uber-intelligent and that I consider myself superior, but I sure hope nobody thinks I'm some retarded pothead) as well as genuine stupid fun (Your sheer stupidity videos are something I can very easily relate to).

Feel free to ask more questions. I'll answer them pronto.

Hey I'm Patty Donison...AKA Patty McPat...AKA Movie Guy...AKA Eurotrip Fanatic...So I've lived in Victoria, BC all my life and I still live here, or for those of you not in Victoria, there. I watch way to many movie's and I work at a video store...where I also watch movie's. I am presently working on a musical for the Victoria Fringe Festival called "Circus", I will not be doing any theatre work again after this show seeing as how it has reminded me why I haven't done any theatre work for more than four years. I live on my own in a one bedroom apartment not far from downtown Victoria. I will hopefully be attending Camosun College not this fall but next fall and take the cullinary arts course. I hope to start writing a screenplay soon or at least get it started or something, God knows, I would really like to make a feature length film at some point in my life. My favorite decade is the 80's, my favorite band is "Bon Jovi", my favorite food is burgers with lots of cheese and other condoments, my favorite film is the 1988 film "Willow". So that's about it that makes up me.                 ...I laugh uproariously a lot.

I'm Kyle Duncan Heinz Hauser McCue....I just go by 'Duncan' though for reasons of parental stupidity. I am 21 in like a week. Apparently i have something like 60 posts here...but i don't remember any of them. I was born in Whitehorse Yukon Territories in 1983. My mothers family came to canada in the 1960's from county Westport in Ireland, my fathers family came from Germany just after the war...how they ended up in a place like Whitehorse I'll never know. I've lived in Vic for as long as i can remember except for a 4 year stint on Saltspring Island that i have no memory of but the doctors assure me with regular hypnotic regression treatments I will have those repressed memories surfacing in no time. Basically I'm a labour monkey doing all sorts of manual labour for $$ if i can ever get out of that rut it will be nothing short of divine intervention. I'm attending Club Slow in the winter semester (Camosun for those of you not down with the lingo) there's a very good reason their moto is 'Learning for Life' CAUSE YOU NEVER @#$$%^& LEAVE!!! Anyhoo my relationship to this site is I know a bunch of the people on here went to school with them and such and since i've gone this far without making any enemies on this site i consider it a blessing. That and I like to see what Graham is up to (filming wise). Well i can't think of anything else plus i think I've managed to successfully waste enough of the readers time here so if you want to know anything else or what-have-you.....too bad. So now i leave you with an old Irish proverb that will hopefully enlighten as we are a very enlightened people. "As you slide down the banister of life, May the splinters never point the wrong way."

Argh, red satin. You know, you really are torturing me from the other side of the country.

May I ask what exactly reminds you of your friend in me? I hope it's a good thing...
