Thank you Lavos for yet another thread that I cringe at. Listen to better music!

There's some seriously bad music in here, already.
Except mine, mine's all good. =P

Indie's not a genre, incidentally.

While I am a HUGE music snob... as for my taste, I actually get annoyed at this sentiment. Just because I don't like your taste in music, doesn't make it bad.
Do I loathe Dream Theatre? Hells yes! Is their music bad? From a technical standpoint, no.

Also: Indie is a genre the same was alternative was a genre in the '90s. Indie just means "not on a major label". So while most of the music I listen to is "indie", I think it's a bit silly to define music by it's distribution structure. That also lumps bands like Beruit and Gorgoroth together in the same boat.

Also also: If Gorgoroth has major label distribution, I'm going to shit my pants.
HOLY SHIT GUYS! BEARS!

I just slapped them out by memory. =P
There's a LOT of bands I COULD(should?) have listed, and a lot of different types of music, but the first 10 I could think of as bands I really 'loved' were the ones that got on the list. =P

Doooo iiiiit.

10. Muse
9. Moneen
8. Dixie Chicks
7. Emanuel
6. The Raconteurs
5. Scissor Sisters
4. Metric/Emily Haines (I adore both.)
3. City and Colour
2. The Decemberists
1. Radiohead

Um, I suppose my taste in music could be a lot worse. I'm kind of getting into a much more mellow sort of music lately. (Thus my current love for Emily Haines and such.) But I still like a bit of more upbeat stuff from time to time.

By the way, good to see I'm not the only one that likes Moneen in the whole universe.

3. White Stripes
4. Moby

10. Jackson Jackson

(no real order)

Good point Al,
I never posted my faves because I thought it would be a hastle to figure them out. Since you proved me wrong here is my list and it is not in order

1. World symphony orchestra
2. Aerosmith
3. The Who
4. Matthew good (and the matthew good band, they count as the same right?
5. U2
6. BT
7. The beatles
8. Pink floyd
9. Eric clapton
10. Ulrich Schnauss

It was really hard to come up with 10 because I dont like many artists as a whole, just a few songs by any given artist. I never listen to whole albums except for a few collections I have of a few various artists.

Okay, this time I am doing it! See?

11. a tie between Flogging Molly and the Dropkick Murphys (they are basically the same thing, anyway)
10. Gorillaz
9. The Russian Futurists
8. The Arcade Fire
7. The Flaming Lips
6. Modest Mouse
5. Cake
4. The Indigo Girls
3. Mika
2. Metric
1. The Decemberists

Obviously, I couldn't really narrow it down to 10.

As I was composing this in my head, I realized that I don't listen to that much 'indie' any more. And then I actually looked through my iTunes and realized that I suppose I kinda do.

I will accept many of your proposals. I've never heard Mika, though, and I can't stand Modest Mouse live.
Also, you chose a tough fight for #11. I'd HAVE to say the Murphys, but that's probably only because I have more of them. =P

In retrospect, I should've had Lagwagon on my list, simply to enhance my love of the Tony Sly/Joey Cape album. =(

top ten bands? too hard for me, since my tastes change so much. I will say that currently some of my top pics are The Fray, Hawk Nelson, Stellar Kart, and anything else awesome.

He's a moderately good pop singer. He is incredibly addictive and tons of fun to listen to, and a total guilty pleasure. He did that song 'Grace Kelly.'

Allen! wrote: and I can't stand Modest Mouse live

I've never seen them live, so I wouldn't know! I also tend to really dislike concerts anyway, so I don't really go to them. So it doesn't matter to me!

I have more Flogging Molly, but the Dropkick Murphys have 'I'm Shipping Up to Boston" which is the best song ever.
