Did anybody other than me go to this?
We're getting married.
So what?
[ps. I know I look horrendous, but that's taken a short while after I almost fainted during him reading one of his stories.
On his last tour, 72 people fainted, right about the time he got to saying the words 'corn and peanuts'. Two men fainted tonight. One of them cracked his head on a door as he was falling.]
[pps. He wrote Fight Club. And is my favourite author. He wrote other stuff too, but is most well known for Fight Club.]
Chuck Palahniuk.

WARNING.
Do not click this if you are weak in the stomach. I've watched people vomit just from reading this story.

You know, I don't really get the allure of this guy. I mean, he's not a bad writer, definitely, but I don't really get the obsession people have with him. Those stories - they aren't good. They aren't written to ignite one's imagination or entertain or enlighten - they are written to gross you out. To make you feel ill. What is the appeal in this?
I know a lot of people really enjoy his books - I tried to read Fight Club and I simply couldn't get into it. I read 40, maybe 50 pages of it over and over and over again, trying to understand it, but I just didn't get his writing. I couldn't wrap my head around the constant changes and random insertions of other stories. I realize that is totally part of the story of Fight Club, and that I am very much alone in this admonition, but whatever. Fight Club just wasn't my kind of book - but these stories: these I really don't get.

Because it makes people more aware of their boundaries - and by pushing them, they expand their sense of self.
If he were interested in controlling people, he could be a cult leader. He's halfway there as it is.
