48 hours sleep dep

Postby Fumbles » 27 Jul 2007, 04:27

I remember someone saying that we should all have a forum challenge version of this so I thought I'd start it off. I've only been up 13 and a half hours so we are still in the early stages. I'll try and post an edit/update every half an hour to an hour. Anyone want to join?

edit #1: 15 hours... still awake
edit #2: 15 hours and 45 minutes... still awake
edit #3: 16 and a half hours... still going strong
edit #4: just pushed through midnight so that's 17 hours. Just realized I've passed 500 posts. Half way there. To 1000 posts that is
edit #5: coming up 18 hours
edit #6: 19 and a half hours. Near the half way mark
edit #7: must have made a calculation mistake somewhere because it has been an hour and a half since my last post and I just worked out that I've hit 20 hours. No humorous crazy things happening yet
edit #8: 21 and a half hours
edit #9: I got through the hard part which is one of the night sections. just passed the 24 hour mark. light's breaking now. Half way down
edit #10: OK we are umm 29 hours in and I 've just returned from a walk to the shops which has supplied me with mother, v and red eye for tonight. since daylight I've been pretty good.
edit #11: 30 hours in and it's starting to hit me a bit. gonna drink a v
edit #12: In to the last quarter. 36 hours gone 12 to go. two caffeine filled drinks to go. It's looking good. The sun has set and it's all dark so the real test starts now
edit #13: kicken back eating chinese and watching dr who as I hit 10 hours to go
edit #14: watching tv now. It's really hit me with 8 hours and 20 minutes to go. Still got a mother if I need it
edit #15: 40 hours in and I'm downing the mother. tastes absolutely rank aswell. At least I feel slightly more awake
edit #16: hitting the wall hard. All the sitting down it not good. gonna try some wii sports to get the body up and running again
edit #17: wii is good. 6 hours and 15 minutes left. This hour feels alot better than the last
edit #18: five hours to go. phasing in and out of pimp my ride. I don't know If I'll make it

I'm at thirteen, too.
Was thinking about grabbing some grub at 6, when places start to open up.

At school we do this for charity, but we also have tons of people around and a lot of activities going on. Then again you do have coke zero, video games, and other stuff. Plus you can sit down, whereas they have to stay standing the whole time.

Wouldn't it be easier to fall asleep sitting down?

Yes, that's why the people doing it for charity aren't allowed to do so.

I'll see about trying after work this weekend (I have Mondays and Tuesdays off.) I *should* be getting my wii and Zelda tomorrow, so the sleeplessness will have a good run for it money.

36 hours awake. That's the longest I've ever gone. It involved work, D&D, 2 parties, and never, ever, wanting to drink again. But for now kiddies, I'm finally gonna get some rest.

39 hours for me. Started off at 7 AM. Had an Exam at 10:30 AM, which I hadn't studied for, so I studied until my 3KM walk to school. Wrote the exam then started research, because I had a research paper due the next morning at 10:30, which I hadn't started yet. Worked on that until my Lab at from 2-5. If it wasn't for the Lab I'd have gone home and worked. Walked 3km back home, worked on research until about 11:30. Finally was ready to start writing the paper. At about 2 my roommate enters the kitchen where I am furiously typing. He says nothing. Finnish the paper at about 7:00. Kill time from 7 to 10:00 with coffee. Walk another 3km to school, where I hand in the assignment. Go straight to Engeniering bulding cafateria because it's a better place to study than the library or main cafateria. I have a calculus exam at 3:30 that I haven't studied for. Get 3 solid hours of studying in. At 3 I go get a coffee and go to the exam room. Finnish the exam at 5 and walk the final 3km home. Sleep will come soon. When I get home I find all my roommates stuff in the back of a truck. I walk in, he shakes my hand, and he leaves for the last time. I had no idea he was moving out. I go to bed. But I'm overtired, and can't get to sleep for about 4 more hours. I slept for 16 hours straight. Missed an entire day of school, but that doesn't matter because I completed the assignment and my 2 best exam marks of the semester were on that day.

I think my record is 37-ish hours. My friends and I had an all-night movie marathon and New Years party a few years ago.

just as a record so you'd know I wasn't cheating by sleeping early in the day and then just waking up and updating at night. My record is 43 hours
