(BTW this is kinda long, but please read...)
I will agree that threads started by spambots should be deleted, and that some stuff can be found offensive in some people's eyes. I will grant you that.
HOWEVER...
Let's really get to the root of this problem. First of all, you made a movie and posted it on the internet. When it comes to the creative process, the creator can take their work so seriously that any negative feedback could be deemed mean or nasty. Looking at the movie, I myself found that it needs a lot more work, namely in video quality and continuity. Am I calling you any horrible offensive names? No. Is it just as harsh that i said it needs a lot more work? That's your own call. No need to respond.
The next point, people didn't like the movie and complained and razzed you about it, and you wanted them to lock the thread down or delete their comments. Yet, you want your opinion to be heard on the topic of people being mean. This is completely hypocritical. You are, in short, forcing people to either agree with you or agree with you deleting their opinions. If other people don't agree with you, then you can either respectfully disagree, or completely ignore.
Next, you posted a complaint about said thread on a completely different forum, including comments involving "etiquette of forums". The only way you can expect different results from the opinions seen on the other forum is to post it on YOUR OWN forum, where only you are allowed to speak. The internet is too diverse in age, gender, intelligence, and creed for you to expect everyone to agree with you. So take a deep breath and move on.
As for etiquette online, this can only be enforced according to the TOS, much like others have said. I'm sure that if someone posted real hardcore porn on the boards here, one of the mods would delete the post and take action to prevent it from happening again. As for what is and isn't offensive, I must repeat Wraith's response. It is all relative.
Political correctness, part of this 'offensive' issue, can be good, but only when used in moderation. The cocktail made with Kahlua and vodka is NOT an "African-American Russian", it's a Black Russian. This is just one example of how it can get out of control.
In closing, the world is offensive, and seeing as the internet was created to connect the world, it will end up including this offensive character. Take people's comments and advice with a grain of salt.
