When directors do it just right, the "OOOOH!" moment that puts everything together in a movie (Heist, Thriller, etc.) is freaking amazing. Every time.

The best part of Hot Fuzz was Simon Pegg jumpkicking a granny.

I read that and wondered why that sounded familiar.
I then realized I watched Monkey Business on Friday.

I think my answer is any good Marx Brothers scene.

Ooh, forgot the scene where Fred Astaire dances on the ceiling - "Royal Wedding". That and the coat rack scene are the only reasons to watch that movie.

Scratch that. Just watch the scenes on YouTube.

Sable, that's actually a very good list.

And damn, Anachronism, now I really want to watch Full Metal Jacket - that scene with the girl sniper - SO GOOD.

I'll come up with a better one later, but off the top of my head, from Batman Begins:

Thug, hanging upside down by a bungie line: I DON'T KNOW! I SWEAR!

Christian Bale, in an uber-intense "huh. Guess he CAN play Batman" voice: SWEAR TO MEEE!

I have a ton of movie scenes I could mention, but since I just watched this movie last night...

The Shawshank Redemption: The circling flyover in the beginning, when Andy first arrives at Shawshank. Absofuckinglutely brilliant helicopter shot, especially the flag in the wind, and the music for that section just ties it all together so perfectly.

Also, the entire section at the end when Red gets out and heads down south to meet up with Andy. One of my favorite movie endings of all time.

~Alja~

PS - Wraith, I think he says "I swear to god!", thus the "swear to me" bit.

Fair warning, I watch a whole lot of random stuff when it comes to movies and TV. And saying that, here is my list in no paticular order:

1. Mirror scene in "Duck Soup"
2. "I think I'm a sofa" in "Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy"
3. Chasing the dog in "Bringing Up Baby"
4. Kid plugging his ears in the background at the cafeteria in "North by Northwest"
5. The car crash in "Amores Perros"
6. The truffle shuffle in "The Goonies"
7. Captain Blood 'freeing' the girl in "Captain Blood"
8. The blowing out of the match in "The Flesh and the Devil"
9. The Tramp with the Kid 'rescuing' in the police truck in "The Kid"
10. "Hello my name is Inigo Montoya..." in "The Princess Bride"
11. Saying goodbye to Mateo in "In America"
12. Manuel's death in "Captains Courageous"
13. The speech in "Whale Rider"
14. Casanova in the English court in the BBC "Casanova" miniseries (does that count?)
15. The baby dying in "Sparrows"
16. Any scenes with the Robot in "Forbidden Planet"
17. Fergus jumping off the roof in "Takin' Over the Asylum" (BBC Scotland miniseries)
18. "Hooray for Captain Spalding" in "Animal Crackers"

People have pointed out to me that I watch too much in the way of depressing movies which I have to agree with.
-Holy kleenex, Batman, it was right under our noses the whole time!
-Satan wears a bucket hat!
-If tin whistles are made of tin, what are fog horns made of?
-Lewis has AIDS
-Meddle ye not with dragons, for ye are crunchy and good with ketchup

Definitely. In Captain Blood I liked the duel. But I wanted Basil to skewer Flynn.

I didn't see it as pretentious. I just wanted to list some favourite movies scenes. But if that's the way it came off, sorry.

I get a little crazy when it comes to movies. I can't help it, I love 'em.
