emma I loved "Rebecca". My favourite scene is the shadow of Mrs. Danvers in the room as the house burns.

Have you seen "Gaslight" with Ingrid Bergman and Charles Boyer? It's the same basic premise only this time the husband is trying to drive the wife crazy. And Angela Lansbury plays an evil maid.

But then it's not Daphne De Maurier. And then what's the point?

Because Charles Boyer is deliciously evil.

I love Danny Kay. Apparently he was a natural at fencing and after a few weeks of training could best Basil.

2. That guy that works at every movie store you've ever been to. The one that drops the words "film" or "cinema" into every sentence. The guy who defines himself as an intellectual because of his "sophisticated film palet that only craves the classics". The one that looks down his nose at you for renting The Matrix because, clearly, you're one of the "unwashed masses" who think that "a good movie is about explosions and special effects instead of plot, good characters, or a moving storyline", because as we all know, one always precludes the others. The one who, deep down inside, thinks that he's going to be an important director one day, despite the fact that he's never actually written anything, but none of that matters, because that hollywood video nametag says that he is the AUTHORITY on film, and you'd better recognize.

Everyone always thinks I am one of those people, because I grew up being a huge movie fanatic who was the child of another movie fanatic. When my mother was a child, her mother would wake her up in the middle of the night if a really great movie from her childhood was playing, and that was the only way to see it.

My mom sort of did the same thing with me, only she didn't have to wake me up in the middle of the night. I grew up on Alfred Hitchcock and Fred Astaire and Cary Grant and Humphrey Bogart, and I couldn't be happier.

But at the same time, I own The Day After Tomorrow. Go figure.

I guess the problem is that the current over-abundance of elitist movie-snobs, and the sheer obnoxiousness of having people judge you based on what harmless forms of entertainment you choose to take your mind off of how much the world sucks has pretty much ruined things for anyone who truly loves old movies.


Still, having 17 out of 18 movies on your top list being things that were made well before you were born, not having anything from your own generation, that just sets off a red flag in my head.

I'm pretty sure morgans favorite movie scenes are sex related.

You know what happens when you make assumptions right?

I can understand where you're coming from though. But let me explain. I get my love of movies from my mom. She's the one who got me hooked on classics. I grew up being charmed by Humphrey Bogart's lisp, Fred Astaire's dancing and Bette Davis' mad acting skills.

Don't get me wrong though, I do love movies made today. The Matrix for example, totally blew my mind when I saw it. I had never seen anything like it before. And for the record I do like explosions. Big ones. With fire. I'm the person that pokes the fire when you go camping.

But there's just something about old movies. They don't lean on special effects and you aren't distracted by the personal lives of the actors. I mean, there are tons of terrible old movies with cringe-worthy acting but there are also tons of terrible new movies that don't have a story behind them. It all depends on where you look.

Personally I think that people who love movies and don't check out the classics are really missing out. Yes they may move slowly compared to what you're used to and you might not see any explosions but the acting, my gods the acting!

I wouldn't call myself an elitist movie-snob. I do love discussing movies with people but there's more to a person than what movies they like.
I haven't judged anybody on here. In fact, I was happy to read other people's favourite scenes. It makes me want to go out and rent more movies.

So with that, Wraith, favourite movie scenes?
