Pumpkins!
Pumpkins!
Hey y'all.
Got a cool pumpkin? Post a picture!
I'm proud of this, even though it's not 100% what I wanted - it's raining pretty damn hard outside and I was trying to get things fast before my camera sucked up too much water.
13 second exposure, no Photoshop tricks.
Edited to add some details:
I transferred the Aperture Science logo to the pumpkin with a printed cutout after repeated attempts to doodle it failed utterly. I carved it with one of those cheesy pumpkin knives that are basically jigsaw blades with handles - they work really, really great for stuff like this.
The "Portals" on each side were jigsawed out, and then I pinned some bits of white paper in them - you can barely see the edge of one of them through the left side of the AS logo.
The left side of the pumpkin was illuminated by the blue LEDs on my Surefire Kroma light, propped up on boxes. It's to the left of the frame.
The right side was my Surefire E2E on a box, shining through an orange CD case. It, naturally, is to the right of the frame.
All interior light is bleed-through from the flashlights.

One thing bothers me. I can't find a good picture of it, but on the Combine Turrets, there is a strange circular symbol that is different than the normal Combine logo.
You can kinda see it there, the yellow mark that looks like a paint-brush was dragged in an incomplete circle.
Am I the only one who thinks Aperture Science may have something to do with that?

Yeah, I kind of thought I'd seen it before too - but it was your post that made it come to the front of my brain.
This was kind of for pumpkins that you've carved yourself - if you've GOT a Property Defender, I'd love to see it, though!

My pumpkin didn't turn out amazingly because a) I didn't have a huge amount of time (I have had a mad busy weekend) and b) I had really lousy tools. I was using kitchen knives, which really didn't work well for doing such a small design.
And Graham, I am going to try and light it, but I have neither candles nor a flashlight - though there IS a large hole in the back from me carving out a rotting part, so maybe I will just put it in front of my desk light or something.

Sable, I know your dark secret!
The LRR 2003 Halloween Special! Featuring men with pumpkins on their heads!
Yes, no?
I've not actually seen it, as I have yet to get the Season 1 DVD, but it is mentioned in their Year 1 Retrospective video.

Addendum: Also, jtaylor, that's Old Timey Strongbad, no?

If you watch the end credits to Portal while the song is playing, you see that symbol on the side just as you hear the computer sing "Maybe Black Mesa/That was a joke. Ha ha. Fat Chance." My guess is that it is the Black Mesa logo.

Black Mesa was initially investigating Xen, the nearest dimensional "border world". After the residence cascade and the attempts to close the portals, they had to send Freeman to kill the Nihilanth on Xen which was holding the portal open.
The Combine came later, after Black Mesa was already nuked during the coverup. Those turrets realistically shouldn't have anything to do with Black Mesa at all. Moreover, they are very much a Combine style design, so the mark to me remains a mystery.
