Postby Tensen01 » 29 Nov 2007, 03:31

Okay, Graham and Morgan saw this during DBH but I thought I'd post here.(I asked Doctor Morgan if I would be a total dork if I made this... He said that since he has a Han Solo costume he couldn't judge)

I am in the process of designing a Mandalorian costume, get this, For the hell of it!!!

Would you ever wear it or just keep it in a safe place forever?

Does it matter if you only use it once? There is something to be said of taking ones own ideas and bringing them to life. Even if the only person who gives a damn about it is you.

Considering the detail put into it I'd say it's awesome.
My train of thought is more like a roller coaster that has loop de loops and no safety bars.
I don't know if I'm tall enough to ride.

OMG Its Red Boba Fett!

There is no need to worry about being a dork; the time, effort and skills put into a costume like this are wicked cool in their own right. Just don't dress up as Man-Fey.

You want to see something dorky?

I recommend deviating from the Boba Fett helmet pattern. Yes, it screams 'Star Wars', but it also screams 'derivative'.

But if you do it really well, then it's better than something original because it will bet a lot more attention.

I can understand what you're talking about, but Boba Fett's helmet looks very similar to the Mandalorian helmets.

This is the Mandalorian character form KOTOR known only as Mandalore. Notice the similarities to Boba Fett.

Could Boba Fett's helmet be similar to a Mandalorian helmets because it is a Mandalorian helmet? Yes because it is a Mandalorian helmet.

Jango Fett was Mandalorian, trained Boba a bit, and then Boba trained and became a Mandalorian warrior...

Believe it or not Boba Fett was not the only one. SHock and Awe.

This character is a completely original Mandalorian thought up and designed by me.

And yes, you'll be getting a play-by-play

Once I finish up college and get my own place, I'll be able to start all my sci-fi costume projects. Current problem is a lack of a place to store things like a vacuum table and other large, bulky items of armored-costume making.

That said, I'm planning on using some online sites I know of to master the basics by making a storm trooper outfit or some such, then once I have a decent grasp of how to work everything, I'll start making my own custom designs and possibly turn it into a small side job.

Things I Want To Make:

Custom - Modern Tactical Riot Gear
    Custom - Samurai Battlegear
Fallout 2 - Advanced Power Armor
    Half-life 2 - Combine Overwatch Elite Armor
    Half-life 2 - H.E.V.
Metal Gear Solid - Gray Fox Exoskeleton
