What the strangest thing you have eaten

Postby Kawaiicaps » 05 Jan 2008, 14:46

I thought with all the strange things going on with the iron stomache challange it might be fun to post the strangest thing you have ever tried.

For me, the strangest is raw horse meat sushi
it was offered at a resturant i was at in Tokyo and couldn't resist trying it.

i love to try new strange foods

Hmmm, can't think of much off hand, I've probably eaten something stranger but dried squid is the only thing that really comes to mind. It's pretty good incidently.

I had this really bad soda from Virginia called Cricket Cola that was flavored with Cane Sugar, Green Tea, and Kola nut. I didn't think that such a nasty flavor existed. So I had some of my friends try it out. They all thought it was nasty, and one even thought his beard grew faster because it was in his system.

This is the culprit.

My friend gave me a dog treat. She told me it was a cookie. It tasted like a cookie..kind of old, but a cookie.

I had a dog once. When I had to let her "go" I ate all her treats. It really just tastes like biscuits.

Buffalo (tastes just like "Moo Cow")
Alligator
Venison
Jellyfish (I do NOT recommend it)
Squirrel (I was in Georgia, don't judge)
Rabbit
Snail
Octopus
Squid
Quail
Elk
And since I love hot dogs I have probably eaten rat, dog, cat, horse, and pigeon with a few spider eggs for flavor.

I was SO CLOSE to eating Alligator, but I got stuck with some teachers and couldn't go to the restaurant that served it. So probably the weirdest thing I've eaten is elk? Buffalo? I'm not sure, I've had both. Nothing too crazy.

oh, so we're making lists now?

I've eaten alligator and frog (those I dont think are very strange)
Skunk jerky
Bear
Birds nest soup, this is soup made from birds saliva (From wikipedia: A few species of swift, the cave swifts, are renowned for building the saliva nests used to produce the unique texture of this soup.)
Octopus tentacle pizza
Jellyfish (I liked it when I had it)
Raw oysters (I dont think this one is wierd either but some do)
many many difirent kinds of dried seafood
chicken brain
salsbury steak sushi
Natto, a traditional Japanese food made from fermented soybeans (maybe not the strangest thing but definitly the most disgusting)

that's all I can think of for now
I try to eat as many wierd foods as I can

shark, haggis...I don't really eat weird foods. It's not that I have a weak stomach, just a weak mouth and a gag reflex that won't let me swallow anything (oddly enough though, it is very rare for anything to actually come back up).

I was reaching, I don't find it strange either, but I know some people do. Then again, the same people also consider poutine strange, so maybe I shouldn't listen to them.
