Vancouver Island Short Film Festival

Postby johnny » 15 Jan 2008, 11:25

The Third Annual VISFF is happening this weekend in Nanaimo BC. This year get a chance to see 4 great short films from the LRR crew and 17 other amazing films on the big screen. Come out and enjoy the best short films produced on Vancouver Island.

Tickets are selling fast at the Nanaimo Arts Council (North Town Centre Mall) and Falconer Books (Nanaimo Port Place Mall). If you want to come to the 7 PM show on Friday (January 18th) or Saturday (January 19) and can't buy tickets in advance come early to Malaspina University College Theatre. A limited amount of tickets will be on sale starting at 6:30 at the Malaspina Theatre Box Office.

For more information, including directions to the Theatre go to www.visff.com. I look forward to seeing lots of LLR fans at the show!

I don't know that we're filming the trip this year. We're all pretty busy these days, so we'll see how we feel on the day.

Having said that, we will be filming the awards ceremony for the VISFF, so they have record of it. So, if things go our way [fingers crossed] you'll see that footage certainly.

Postby johnny » 17 Jan 2008, 15:31

Tickets for both nights are almost sold out! if you are coming from out of town, make sure to get to the Theatre around 6, because there will be a line up for tickets again this year I think.

That's awesome news Johnny!
You'll have to tell us how people like the films for the Friday show, cause we won't be there.

I would not mind going but I have no way to go Nanaimo.

Also the VISFF was on A Channel last night.

A-Channel

Postby johnny » 18 Jan 2008, 00:16

Ya we were really happy to get a little mention on A-Channel, they actually ran the clip with me in it twice on the evening news. I hope it fills the house so lots of people get a chance to see all these great short films. See you soon.

What a fantastic night!

LRR brought it home again with People's Choice and Best Writing for Eyewitness Accounts!
That's the third year in a row that we've won Best Writing!

Huge thanks to Johnny and Matt, the event organizers, as well as the Nanaimo Arts Council, the City of Nanaimo, the judges, and everyone who came and voted for us!

We're buying a nice tripod and a larger camera battery with our winnings.
Because we have been without a dedicated tripod since Hyperchondria.

BEHOLD!!!

Thats great news :D Way to go, LRR!

And I dunno, I think The Stages or Pull Yourself Together could warrant some recognition as well.

Ironically, your prolific production limits the technical work that can be done on any one video, making it unlikely you'll win awards for effects or composition.

:c(

There should be an award for "Best Production By Sheer Mass".

Amazing guys! I really thought Toast would win it, but Eyewitness Accounts is still a great video.

I'm sure we will benefit from the tripod-having :)

I'm honestly surprised Toast and Slacking for Gold didn't win anything, I was rooting for those two.

I won't lie, I was suprised that everyone expected the other two to win rather than eyewitness accounts because I felt it was the most entertaining of the three. Regardless, congratulations, and all of the videos submitted rocked.

No award for Toast?! YOU WERE ROBBED!

But congrats on eye witness accounts.
