A brief Video game related inquiry
A brief Video game related inquiry
Does anyone know anything about Birdo exsisting as a playable character within Super Smash Bros. Melee? I've got my friend sitting here who claims that he(she?) is playable through some form of glitchery.
Is this as much of a lie as it sounds like, or is there something to it?

*sigh*...DNA evidence...

He's not a playable character in Melee.
GameSpot posted thing about Birdo being a rejected character for Brawl, but he isn't playable in Brawl, either.

Yes, despite the pink and ribbon, it is a he. And no, he's not in Melee/Brawl as a playable character. As Vaughn said, he shows up in the Mushroom Kingdom 2 level in original Mario Bros. 2 form (2-D), but nothing more (aside from a trophy).
He would make a good Brawl character though, he's be the same as Yoshi but to keep him different his eggs would go staight forward instead of arced like Yoshi.

King Boo wouldn't work well. Any time he'd go to attack somebody, if they look at him he'd freeze in place. XD

On a few occasions, it is reffered to a female, but only rarely. Most of the time it's a 'he'.

Birdo is generally referred to as he, but would make much more sense to me if you'd consider Birdo to be a hermaphrodite. I mean a "he" that lays eggs? Of course the same could be said for Yoshi...
But then again if one shoots eggs out of their mouth, it's pretty hard to be confined to traditional gender rules.

My train of thought is more like a roller coaster that has loop de loops and no safety bars.
I don't know if I'm tall enough to ride.

Of course, thats projecting familiar traints onto a species we REALLY know nothing about.
Male seahorses carry their offspring, not the mothers.
Birdo's and some freaky cloaca throat, and produce unfertilized eggs to propel at predators using highly developed muscles in their... um, Everything-tube for self defense.
Edit: oh! and theyve got a VERY fast reproduction rate, what with their natural enemies being the ever abundant crusading plumbers.

It's a videogame. Not animal planet. Damn you intelligent peoples. You make bunny cry.
Also, just for reference, it was originally a she, but canon states a he because the west at that time would never go for a game involving abuse of females, or so they thought, so they made it male.
oh, and bunny for new SSB. Or GLaDOS

According to SMRPG, Birdo either a girl, or an incredibly flamboyant dude. =D
Oh! and if you dont like the Animal Planet answer, you can alsays go with
SPOILER?Mario2 was all a dream anyway, so Birdo's just some crazy fucked up imagining from mario, that must have gone all Freddy Kreuger and bled into the real world.
