lately i've been listening to alot of Symphony x. I would suggest listening to them... Particularly The odyssey and Paradise lost.

I also suggest LORD, my favourite Australian band.
Blind guardian
King diamond
Bad religion
Demons and wizards
Operation mindcrime by Queensryche
and Hayseed dixie, if you want to hear some awesome bluegrass renditions of various songs.

I recently found Ghost Mice, who are really good if you like folk punk

I've got pretty random and varied tastes in music. If anyone wants to dig up the old thread we had on music, I recall there were a fair number of good suggestions in there, but I'm too lazy and tired from work to do it.

YOUR MOM NEEDS TO STOP!

(there that should fix that...)

As for good music, I am a bit of a pop/rock person, and willingly admit Kelly Clarkson rocks. But as for other artists, I heard a clip from Duffy's RockFerry, and it sounds cool. Also KT Tunstall, Lady Sovereign, The Frey, The Wylde Bunch, and a few others.

I know my music tastes may seem lame, but hey that's all I remember right now.

To include Rise Against and Muse in the same sentence is blasphemy.
Muse are leaps and bounds ahead.

Also, as previously mentioned in this thread, Cake and Arcade Fire are fair good.

I've got a thing for Brit-Pop too, so Kaiser Chiefs, and any group Damon Albarn's been associated with (Gorillaz, Blur, The Good the Bad and the Queen)

I do. Also, Rise Against is sooo much better than Muse. Because Muse doesn't even sound good.

I judge music on a scale of ROCK!

At the lower end is the average adult contemporary band, not ROCK much.
Say, Coldplay.

The far end is screamo hardcore. Absolute rubbish.
Say, Underoath.

My type of bands are around the half-way point - rocky, but not screaming or neccessarily angry/complaining about the world/vegetarian/etc.

Muse, The Killers, Hard-Fi, etc.

Occasionally I will take bands higher up (System of a Down, Rage Against the Machine, etc) and I'll usually put up with bands low on the rock scale (Editors, Coldplay, etc), but Rise Against are just... ugh.

Also, not to bring in non-musical problems, but they support PETA. Anyone who watched Penn and Teller's Bullshit! will understand why PETA is just that.
