Don Lafontaine (Movie trailer guy) is dead

Postby wilson_x1999 » 02 Sep 2008, 07:16

I just read that Don Lafontaine died, I know that a lot of people didn't know his name, but I can assure you, that pretty much everyone, knew his voice.

I like movie trailers, since most of the time they are better than the real movie and every trailer that included Don Lafontaine's voice was immediately 1000% better.

He'll be missed -_-

:(

Rest in peace, man.

I'm going to miss his lovely voice. No movie trailer will be the same again.

Thank you for all the trailers you did that turned out better than the movies themselves, and especially for the self-deprecating GEICO ad.

Ya know? This year REALLY sucks for important people leaving us... :(

Aw man. That sucks. Not only because he was made of concentrated badassery, but also because he was on my big list of personal heroes.

I guess this pretty much leaves us with just Morgan Freeman for awesome voices.

I think Bill should do them now. I think he'd do. Or maybe Graham with his Solid Snake act voice.

In a world without Don LaFontaine... Movie trailers will fight for their survival.

It is a sad day... Seems like there've been a lot this year...

I'd do it. I'm often told my voice would be good for that. Especially when I actually try to impersonate that voice.

Holy shit have I taken this guy for granted....

Never knew who the guy was, but he was my favourite announcing voice in hindsight.

Shame, but hey.... you gotta kick the bucket some time. 68 aint old though.

That's awful. When I heard Jerry Reed died it made me think about the fact that, as I get older, more and more of the talented people that have been mainstays in my life are going to die. This is just another example. When are we going to get around to conquering death?
