The morning after I first went for short hair, I woke up, ran my hands through my hair and yelped, before remembering why it had stopped so suddenly.

Think yourself lucky that you're not in my boat, Mimm. I ran my hand through my hair this morning, and it reminded me of how much I don't have. Damned alopecia... damned testosterone... damned head

Interesting observation: Now that I have no long hair on my neck, I can wear collared shirts w/o annoying the hell out of myself. Yay!

The weirdest sensation when you cut your hair after having it long for a long time is water on the back of your neck when you shower.

As a guy who went from crazy jew fro to nearly shaved bald, I disagree heartily.
The feeling of hot water on your scalp is far and away an odder feeling.

First time I shaved my head I couldn't believe how cold I was. And how after a week of stubble grows in your hoodie sticks to your head like Velcro.

First time I shaved my head, I felt no change. Being black has those effects.

Re: The "Post a picture of yourself" thread
First time I shaved my head I noticed the heat thing as well. I went from super long mermaid hair past my ta tas and extremely thick to nothing, and it was so wonderful in the summer. Other then the heat thing I noticed my hair dried in seconds vs days after getting out of the shower.

The only time I ever shaved my head (like down to the skin) I used the only disposable razor left, not realizing that my brother had been using it and putting it back in the package. I had well over 25 cuts all over my bald nogin. Never tried it again.

I'm sure I said "awesome, welcome back " earlier, a minute or so after Yam would have posted, but somehow it seems the interwebs have eaten my post.
Anyway, welcome back dude! It's awesome to see you posting again.

Re: The "Post a picture of yourself" thread
Time for some couple fun time snaps
So first up is when Vikkie was staying up here in Darlington for a couple weeks and we went to a county show nearby.
Me doing a bit of archery.
Me doing some rock wall climbing
There was a couple big tents with lots of animals in them, including fluffy bunnies and whatnot. There was also chickenzilla here
And some tribbles
After the show we also spent a day in nearby York.
Vikkie at the top of York castle, where apparently a bunch of Jews killed eachother rather than be turned over to some foes outside. Despite this, she manages to look gorgeous.
Me, not so much.
After two weeks together in Darlington, we caught a train down to Hertfordshire to spend two weeks with Vikkie's family.
While there, Vikkie's dad took us to the Duxford imperial war museum. She got to art-geek out and I got to science-engineering-geek out. Fun times for all.
A few weeks later, Vikkie came back up for a few days and we went on a nice caravan holiday for a week by ourselves just East of York. We got engaged the night she arrived in Darlington, so this was also sort of our pre-marriage honeymoon I guess.
Given the quality of wifi at the campsite, the radio was our chief source of non-couple amusement
The countryside did start to get to us after a while. This was before that though.
Serious art-mode Vikkie as seen through a nearby tea mug.

I swear to god Vikkie looks like a female Elijah Wood. I really like the pic of her holding the radio. Looks like it should be in an old european magazine. Looks like you guys had a fun time!

Re: The "Post a picture of yourself" thread
... Thank you? I guess? I dunno, there are worse people to look like than Elijah Wood... quite ironic, considering my boyfriend is hobbit sized
It was a lot of fun, especially some of the more bizarre conversations we ended up having at one in the morning... can't remember what they were about though.

I can see the resemblance but I'm thankful you mean LotR era Elijah and not the more recent version.
