We usually have about one decent concert every year where I live. If I'm interested, I can sit out on my porch and hear it most times. A few weeks ago it was the Eagles, and we had the Rolling Stones a couple years ago. I think last year it was Tim & Faith Hill.
I've never actually being to a concert though, since I'm usually not interested in them, and I couldn't get tickets to the Blue Man Group when they were here.

I went and saw them all here in Portland last night.
Weezer was fantastic, they played about a 2 hour long set and hit all their classic songs as well as some of the new ones. They also had some surprises during the show. They even played two cover songs the first being Pink Floyd's "Time" and the other Nirvana's "Sliver".
After they finished their main set they brought up a bunch of people from around the area to play along with them. In all there were about 50 people on stage with them playing instruments ranging from recorders, tambourines, upright basses, and an accordion, along with the standard guitars and drums.
It was an epic show! I'm sorry you couldn't make the show up there Matt.

I saw them perform in Toronto. AWESOME... Except for Angels and airwaves. I don't like them as much. It sucks that you're unable to go see them.
As for other concerts, the only ones that come to mind is when I went to see Panic! At the Disco... I was going through a phase of my life... A phase that involved 'emo' music. Don't get me wrong it wasn't bad I'm just not interested in the band anymore.
I also really want to see Sam Roberts in concert, there are a few live shows near me but unfortunately I'm unable to make it.
This signature is mediocre.

"Good morning Officer Angle!"
Name that film!
The last concert I went to was the Black Keys.
I was way closer to the stage than this guy:

...but I suppose he had to tape from the balcony to avoid getting carted off.
Since then, Fountains of Wayne played a free concert in my town to celebrate the centennial of my Uni's business school, but that didn't really count.

See, I wanted to see Weezer, but I didn't want to see Angels and Airwaves. And I sure as hell wasn't going to shell out $40+ to see an hour of a band I don't like, an hour of a band I like, then an hour of a band that I've hardly heard of.

Everyone worth seeing plays Vegas. However, the shows are either free and extremely crowded... or extremely expensive. I tend to stick to the "free" shows.
So far this year I have seen:
Whiskey Falls
The Lost Trailers
Billy Currington
Heidi Newfield
James Otto
Keith Anderson
Randy Owen
Sugarland
*** All at the ACM free pre-concerts
Luke Bryan
Jason Micheal Carroll
Mark Chestnut
I'm planning to see Flogging Molly next time they come in. I was out of town last time they were here. Waaaah.

no one good is coming here as per usual. although, neil young will be at the big day out next year (shitty annual festival of bad bands hanging on the coat tails of a famous one with a bunch of kids on pills).
best gig i ever went to was the cure last year. the worst? bob dylan. that man is not feeling it anymore. most depressing gig ever.
most of the bands i like are either dead, not a band anymore or don't tour outside the americas. sigh.
Dominic Appleguard: did you like the keys? i've seen them twice now and find them to be really dull live. i found his guitar sound to really grate me after 2-3 songs because he can't layer the guitars like in the albums.

See that was the case for me as well. However, the local alternative station here had a one day deal where any ticket for the concert was only 10 bucks so I jumped on top of that!

I missed Video Games Live when they were down here and I'm quite sad about it. I have always kind of wanted to see Trans-Siberian Orchestra as well. I've only been to one concert and that was Dethklok. Both cover bands were not that good and quite a few people there were, as I would call them, "douchebags".Brad wrote:I'm goin' to Video Games Live on the 29th.
And Trans-Siberian Orchestra on Nov 9th.

Vampire weekend was supposed to be here last week (stupid agenda change).
yeah, they were playing here, like two feet from my dorm, and since we only have like one concert a year, in april it was a big deal... and then they cancelled

They're certainly less polished live, but I didn't mind it so much. For songs like Thickfreakness, the intensity of their live show is really conducive. As for the layering, if you listen close, even in live shows, the guitar sound is impressively full.
At any rate, I'm pretty biased, because the Keys might be my favourite band ever right about now.
