Depends where you are. In densely populated areas like Toronto, they don't like people setting off fireworks, but in less populated areas and out in the middle of nowhere, it's perfectly fine. Or at least, nobody cares. I remember last Canada Day I was out at my cottage, and the entire lake was lit up with people lighting off fireworks up and down the banks.

Firework purchases are straight off illegal in MA. So is the purchase of American Alligators. That doesn't stop those damned kids though.

For you, the 5th, for our Australian Overlords, the 6th, for everybody else, somewhere inbetween.

V for Vendetta was written by Alan Moore, who also wrote the watchmen. That reminds me, I need to be freaking out more about the Watchmen movie.

Well, Newfoundland has had a long tradition of 'bonfire night', even if we've kinda forgotten the reason behind it (just a big pile 'o wood™ with no effigy), and lately the 'public safety' organizations are trying to limit it to bonfires organized by the Fire Department and the like. But as long as you don't set your in an obviously dangerous location, they won't kick up a fuss.

Fireworks? Probably as enforced as jaywalking in NYC, but most of us apathetic Newfies can't be bothered with such 'complex' things whilst we're busy gettin' drunk. :)
