Landlines

So the latest video got me thinking about landline phones. My wife and I got rid of ours about six months ago. The only people that called it were telemarketers, political pollsters and my Father. He can learn my cell number. :)

So how many forum members have ditched their landlines?

I don't even know where my cellphone is. Then again, I don't use my landline either, but so long as I'm not paying for it, I don't care.
Anyways, for the foreseeable future, I doubt I'm going to be away from wherever I live for long enough and often enough to warrant getting rid of my landline.

Since I've moved into a student house I've never had a land line. I don't need one since I don't need to pay anything for my mobile. And I mean don't pay anything, I have no contracts, top ups etc.

Didn't ditch the landline... just never got one to begin with.

My parents, however, have ditched their landline. All of my aunts, uncles, cousins, grandparents... we all have the same phone company and "free mobile to mobile" so there was no point in having the landline.

I haven't had a landline in a while but we are moving soon and planning on getting one. I don't use my cell very often and I am usually at home with the baby these days. also, I think it would be cheaper then a cell phone but I haven't priced it out yet.
I was also thinking of going with skype for home phone calls but thought it would be a hassle to be forced to leave my computer on all the time.

i don't have a landline while i'm at school, because theres no point in paying the university more then i need to... although i probably should because i lose/break/forget to charge my phone a lot

we have one at home, because i have yet to see any service provider actually have service at my house... this is EXTREMELY annoying because you have to go up to the attic and stick the phone out the window just to send a text message... forget actually calling someone

We still have a working rotary phone as our second phone. The other phone has buttons but it is corded.

In my experience, loads of people suck at handling their cellphones home or otherwise. Landlines are handy.

Anyone that wants to contact me has my email.

My mobile phone is infamous for rarely being turned on, and since it sees little use beyond an organiser and clock it usually has very little credit on it, so people rarely text or call me. The landline is usually calls for my parents.

Heavy lead paint prevents me from getting cell reception in my house. So I keep a landline that forwards to my cell when I'm out.

My school decided to cut our landline service AND the free toilet paper that they used to give us, without any warning (not even an e-mail or letter).

What sucks about it is my roommate's iPhone has been disconnected for the past 3 months for lack of money to pay his bill. So he has to borrow my cell in order to call his parents or his brother.

I haven't used a landline for my own calls pretty much since I got my cell (which is when I was still at home), but I have been officially without one since a little after I moved in with Bill & Morgan.

I don't own a cell phone, so I am tied to my land line. I've always had one, wherever I lived.
