Well, I just tried it without the addon installed at all and that doesn't seem to have any effect so I'd say the problem lies elsewhere. At least I've got a few days to get this sorted out.

just had a thought. check your firewall to see if it's blocking ustream. i had a similar issue a while back.

Nope, I don't think the firewall is doing a whole lot. I think I'll just wait it out for a bit, it might just be (incredibly) slow. Thanks for your help anyway, if I have some kind of epiphany I'll probably update this post.

I feel like a complete idiot for asking this, but what's desert bus? I mean if it's a charity or something I'd be glad to donate, but if you're just sitting on a couch playing a videogame or something (which is how all problems should be solved) why would I want to give anything?
