Sands of Time

Postby AmazingPjotrMan » 07 Jan 2009, 18:07

Turns out that Mike Newell the man who helped rape Harry Potter : The Goblet of fire is making Prince of Persia the Sands of Time.

Who is the prince you ask? Jake Gyllenhall!

Yeah I heard about Jake Gyllenhall (What a god-awful last name) being the price awhile ago. I suggested to them to pick 80's singing sensation "Prince" as a logical alternative, but they never got back to me. Their loss.

Fair enough but that one stands above the rest I'd say... not in a good way.

You're talking about the new 360/PS3 one, right?

(Warrior Within is still my favorite just because it's got, IMO, the ultimate perfection in 1 vs many combat systems. Haven't played God of War.)

There are only two redeeming factors to the new PoP...

1: It uses the Assassin's Creed engine so the vistas look AMAAAAZING. (Glorious even!)
2: The platforming sections (minus the stupid "magic plates") play EXACTLY like they should. Feels great to be running around.

Other than that.......giant MEH.

Between losing the time manipulation feature, making it so you effectively can't die, and the physically impossible freeruns, I haven't really been looking forward to this one.(Stretching it didn't bother me, like how you can run level for 10-15 feet along a wall in Sands. Jumping to a wall and then running, or worse, doing a ceiling roll, just bugs me. He's becoming less The Prince and more Spider-Man.)

On the other hand, before I actually played Sands of Time, I didn't like it because one guy on a board I used to go to wouldn't shut up about it, and it turned out to be ten layers fantastic.

I'm going to withhold official commentary on the new Prince of Persia until I've played it, but I expect to be agreeing pretty closely with Yahtzee. I don't always, but apparently he and I both think similarly about the Sands of Time trilogy.

I hear the new one has a glowing thingy that shows you exactly where to jump.

La Mulana it ain't.

Jake is the Prince, Leo is supposed to be in Akira (from a rumor I've heard), and keanu is Spike.
Seriously? Are they trying to piss off as many geeks as possible?

What's next? Prediction time.
1. Star Fox, starring Kathy Griffin as Slippy Toad.
2. Grand Theft Auto, starring Matt Damon as Claude Speed.
3. Final Fantasy X, starring Meg Ryan as Tidus.

I'm going to go barf now.

This says it for me.

Although, I was quite honest when I said PoP sucked since the SoT reboot; to be fair, Prince of Persia 3D sucked donkey farts, as well.

And for "Game-to-Movie Casting" I put forth

Jim Carrey as Master Chief

Luke Wilson as Tommy Vercetti

Martin Lawrence as Carl 'C.J.' Johnson

Cameron Diaz as Samus Aran

Rupert Everett as Link

Steve Buscemi as Sonic

and

Ron Jeremy as Mario

Unfortunately, it's absolutely necessary when dealing with that damn double-jump. Sometimes it's impossible to tell that a ledge is JUST BARELY out of your reach. Furthermore, it's annoying when they flash it when you DON'T need to because it thinks it's targeting something you aren't trying to get to. ><

EDIT: *Rereads a bit closer...realizing it says "where" not "when"*...Oh, you mean to hint system? Yeah, it's there. Nice thing is, it's completely optional. If you are a newbie to PoP, it's helpful. If you're comfy with it, then it's just a useless button on your controller.

As much as I really like Jake Gylenhall as an actor, I don't think he'd be a good fit for this movie, shouldn't the prince of persia be, I don't know, persian?

Oded Fehr would be my choice for this movie, he was in the first two mummy movies, I thought he did a good job.

A film of a video game series? People still care about these? I've lost hope and I was never a huge fan of the Prince of Persia series but still. Donnie Darko or not. It's gonna suck.
