Peggle on the PSP

Postby browncoat » 13 Jan 2009, 19:09

I know that this is shameless self-advertisement, but I know that some forum members have a PSP and that some forum members love peggle (I fall in both categories) and so I wanted to share a little... well, "discovery" of mine.
I've managed to run the mobile-phone version of Peggle, which is pretty much the same as the PC version, on my PSP.
See here for details: http://unhol.de/2009/01/14/peggle-on-the-psp/

Also, if you don't mind, digg it: http://digg.com/gadgets/Peggle_for_the_PSP

Congratulations, you've made me think of someone I really should stop thinking of.

Never played Peggle, though it looks basically like Pachinko on acid.

That is a pretty good description really. Also, it is tremendously fun.

So, let me get this straight.

You want me to take the game that has sucked away hours, nay, DAYS of time that I should have used to do work and other productive events while on my computer, and follow these simple steps to get it to run on a handy portable device so I can take this virtual heroin wherever I wish?

Sir.

I HATE YOU.

So I looked into putting this on my PSP, and I ran into a problem with pspkvm. There isn't a version for 5.x firmwares. I'd have to downgrade to a 3.x, but it took days to get all the stuff required to get my homebrew to 5.02. It'd be a lot of work for me to change back, then at some point in the future, upgrade again, so instead I just found a torrent of peggle for mac and now have it on my laptop. Since I bring my laptop more places than my PSP, I'm set. I wouldn't have gone digging around for peggle if it weren't for the thread, so thanks for musing my interest in peggle again.

Actually I run 5.02 and it runs great.
I just installed the version for the 3.XX firmware.

If I remember correctly, the 3.XX firmware was the first to have been hacked, so many people still refer to any "open" non-1.5-firmware as being version 3.

Hmmm... I tried the 3.xx version and after it started was left with a blank screen then it shut off. Tried the 1.5 version and it came up as corrupt data. Are you using a 1001 or 2000 PSP?

I have PSP-2000 running firmware 5.00-M33-4.
Did you try running it a second time. I had it crash once or twice myself.

I'm on a PSP-1001 using M33-3. Yeah I tried it a couple times and it kept crashing.

Um... I seem to remember there's a native version for the iPod... ? Or would that be only older models?

@moses: Weird... as you have a 1000 maybe you can try some 1.5-loader or something (I think there is something like that...).
Maybe the 3.xx version works only on the 2000 model... *shrugs*

EDIT: WOOT! 500th post! X D

If I remember correctly there was a 3.x version for 1000, then a new 3.x version came out for 2000 that was supposed to work with 1000 as well. Not sure which 3.x one I tried. I know both 1.5 versions came up as corrupt data for me.
