I don't know if this counts as April Fools per se, but I found it on the Escapist forums today and it cracked me up. Makes no bloody sense.

This has to be one of the more silly ones.

Its new Face Gestures for the Opera Browser! http://my.opera.com/community/blog/face-the-future

Best part of that article is

Beards and hair styles: Face Gestures is compatible with most types of facial hair and haircuts. If your face is covered by more than 25% with facial hair, recognition errors may occur: Handlebars and Goatees are compatible independently but if combined recognition will decrease. At the moment soul-patches crashes the browser and it would refuse to relaunch, we are looking into this problem. Bushmen beards and emo haircuts are not supported.

Adult Web sites: Users visiting Web sites that contain adult content sometimes make unconscious facial expressions. If Opera keeps opening Speed Dial and Zooming In and Out, please be aware that this not a bug. It may be useful to disable Face Gestures for a better experience. Also remember that wiping your cache is recommend after visiting untrusted websites.

Maybe I should start using opera.

Google's prank is quite extensive, it seems, and CADIE becomes ever more powerful as the day goes on. I just found the CADIE Powered Brain Scan Function. Unfortunately, I don't have a phone that it will work with.

You can also be sure that each photograph you take is remembered as precious with the Automatic Red Eye function.

From the Google Analytics Blog

Google Analytics Blog wrote:We are intrigued and only vaguely fearful to announce that after just half a day's tracking the reports from CADIE's homepage and other web properties suggest rather forcefully that the world is not yet entirely acclimated to her post-Web 2.0 design and content sensibilities. Yes, CADIE's pages have received an impressive number of visits in the past eighteen hours. But average time on site is a less than impressive twelve seconds, and 99.8% of visitors are immediately "bouncing" (by which in this case we mean leaving the page in stunned, incredulous horror) rather than exploring any further. Notice also the unprecedented -99% change in average time on site. We're at a loss to explain how it is that users are actually spending less time on CADIE pages today than they were yesterday, when the sites didn't actually exist, which we would have thought theoretically impossible and frankly are still kind of freaked out about in a future-Clark-Medal kind of way.

...

Now if you'll excuse us, our electronics are starting to act a bit strangely so we're going to have to power down, gear up and run off to British Columbia, where we intend henceforth to live off the grid, and off the land. Good luck to us all.

I am now expecting a spectacular end of the climax to these shenanigans that will probably end in the annihilation of most of the world as CADIE merges with SkyNet.

Ultimate-Guitar posted an old interview with Axl Rose about Chinese Democracy stating that the album would be released in early 2000.

Not the best AF joke, but it does emphasize just how long it was in development and all the broken promises they made about it.

I don't know if anyone here reads Dumnestor's Heroes, but the author posted the comic backwards today.

Meh, CADIE is much more epic.

Just... just no.
Sick bastards.

Although I like the "I have been shown who is the boss!", because I can't not imagine it said in the way the spy says "I appear to have burst into flame!".

homestarrunner.com Has altered their loading screen for at least today. It's pretty funny and ties in with their latest short/sbemail. Watch to understand what I mean.

EDIT: Also there appears to be a http://www.strongbad.com but I don't think the brothers Chaps had anything to do with it.

i personally have not found any april fools day pranks online but had many played on me today (mostly bymy teachers...).

for example period one my math teacher gave us a 4 page pop "test" which i personally completed to the end. after handing it in he began to laugh and showed me some fine print on the last page at the very bottom which said "happy april fool's day if you write your name on the top and hand it in you get a 100%.

second period religion teacher handed out failing marks to everyone, only to tell us at the end that it was a joke and that he didn't actually have any marks.

3rd period was a real test so i was sparred.

fourth period our teacher handed out 2 essay assignments due the monday. me and one other student who i had in all my other classes yelled a certain vulgar word synonymous to poo and walked out of the room only to be called back in and told april fools.

so that was my lovely day what about you guys (veins visible in forehead)
We all have purposes in life
i believe that my purpose is to laugh my ass off
mission accomplished.
