Save and Reload

Well I play a lot of Elder Scrolls 3: Morrowind and a lot of times you are presented with several options ranging from an insult or compliment, to giving a warrior his well earned death or forcing him to continue his life of misery. If you are familiar with the game you have probably saved, tried out different options for fun, then reloaded your save to continue on the desired path.

Lately I have been thinking how cool it would be to be able to have that ability in real life. Boss a real asshole? Think how wonderful it would be to save, give said asshole a punch in the teeth, then reload your life to the moment prior to giving your nemesis the beating they rightfully deserve.

Think about it.

That would be a fantastic power to have... you could anything you wanted in life without consequences.

The implications for asking someone out have long been considered by me, and deemed awesome.

Yeah.
Just do anything and after have that sweet feeling of satisfaction.

I've always wanted to see what its like to eat 100 mcdonalds cheese burgers but don't want to weigh 900 lbs when im done.
(Just on the tip of my tongue)

Good idea.

The only major draw back would be forgetting to save, and having to reload like 2 years earlier.

I always hate when that happens in a game...you get really into the game, forget to save, and when you die you have to start alllllll over again

I'm pretty sure if I had that power, I would instantly lose all connection with sanity, and likely my ability to reload. Too many aggressive tendencies that are barely kept in check as it is, if I could follow through with them without any repercussions....well, I'd certainly never move on much further.

But in theory, yes, that would be awesome. Especially when it comes to asking someone out.

Yeah that happens a lot with me on Morrowind.
Even worse since I cant play it on my laptop and my desktop crashes like you wouldn't believe.

Interesting perspective.

Some of these ideas are really interesting.

i often thought of this. there have been countless occasions that i can think of where the ability to go back to a previous save point and retry life would have been useful.

i sense this would make a fucking awesome LRR vid :P

It'd be like Groundhog Day but on your terms, everything theoretically possible entirely achievable.

I would love to see that!

Good to hear from people. Post somethings you would do if you had this power or possibly prevent.

For example: Prevent spilling a large glass of milk ALL OVER my bed. Somehow I didn't think holding it while it was on my mattress was a good use of my time :?

Think of the applications for novice traceurs!

Sounds awesome, yeah. But the ability I would more like to have is to "switch off the world" whenever I want. With this I mean just stop time, and be alone in the world. So I have time to think and study things and such. That way I would have more time to do my studying and I would have all the time I want to work out my personal problems and thoughts.

Yeah, I've thought of that too. And not just during day-to-day life, but outside of it too, so that if you die you can still access the ability. Also, being able to pause life would be really awesome.
In fact, access to the menue would be sweet. Why take all those halucenogens when you can piss about with the colour options or set the text to appear in big balloons. I'd love it.

Plus, you know, getting at the cheats menue would be fuckin' epic.

Lol, what if life had cheat codes or console commands. *click self* setstrength 5000. <- maximum LaWLZ

God mode anyone?

I see someone already made the 'Groundhog Day' reference. :)

It'd be nice on MY terms. Try Baldur's Gate: Throne of Bhaal - namely the part where 'Tim knows Magic Missile!' for an example of you being 'reloaded' by another! :D Though, I imagine if someone else 'save scummed', we'd never know. :)

And of course, we typically don't have the big bugs and glitches in Real Life that tend to occur in an Elder Scrolls game. ;)

I'd save so much time with noclip.

I'd also probably be arrested for breaking and entering by a whole mess of folks on my college route...

They might try to arrest you, but just don't turn no-clip off. Problem solved.

My exploitation of this: Be the most productive man alive.

It's the same way I would use time travel, e.g. save, sleep an entire night, then reload the night before. You'd be well-rested and not have to spend any time actually sleeping. That's my dream.

I'm a believer of using our consequences to make us stronger so I'd never really agree with people using it.

However, it's a brilliant concept and one I abuse heavily in Oblivion. You can't arrest me for lockpicking a door that was never picked!

Yeah i could see that leading to insanity pretty quickly.

Inevitably I would do something ludicrously retarded like jump without a 'chute. Then I'd go to quickload and accidentally quicksave.
