When the heck did they start calling the pieces "Tetriminoes"? 1) It sounds ridiculous & 2) Back when the game was originally released they were already established as "Tetrids."

Mathematically, I think they were "Tetraminoes" long before Tetris came out. Mathematicians have been working with tessellations and space-filling patterns for ages and ages... I'm quite sure this is not a recent development. There are a bunch of different spellings, though. Tetraminoes, tetriminoes, tetrominoes. IDK. Tetra + Domino = Tetramino.

"Tetrids" sounds like a species of bug.

Also I am superb at Tetris, thank you very much, which is weird because I hated it as a kid. I'm completely obsessed with it now, though. I can play it for hours. I'm rather good.
