Buttons like for buttoning shirts, or pin on buttons?

Why are they called buttons and not badges (like we do over here).

In the 18th and early 19th century, "campaign buttons" in the US were actual sewn buttons with holes in them. The invention of the "pinback button" meant that the button could be added or removed on a whim, and quickly supplanted the traditional version. Thus, they gained prominence in campaign advertising in America, and as the process became cheaper and easier they filtered into other areas of culture. When not called buttons, the term is usually "pin" or very occasionally "badge", but the latter usually implies a police officer's ID or an embroidered seal.

The British, lacking the rather specific background conditions that led to the "button" usage, went with their gut.
Etymologically speaking, 'button' implies something that thrusts out, whereas a 'badge' is an emblem.

What about the LRR logo from way back in the day? With the L and Rs slightly overlapping each other.

ooorrrr british english isn't dumb enough to have so many words with multiple meanings. :P
on the topic of the renaming, though, you'd think they'd be closer to a brooch than anything.

Of course it is.

As far as I can tell, the goal of English as a language is to keep making new synonyms and alternate meanings until every word means everything.

FIVE 1-inch buttons, three with one dot, one with a circle and one with a triangle.

I think the five look better but the 4th button needs to have a smaller dot on it so it's not so much bigger than the other ones and the 3 button set with the Loading Ready Run printed across them looks cool too.

I have a very strong opinion about the five/three buttons: the three dots have to be on the same badge because although three separate shapes they are one symbol - "loading". Having the dots each on a separate badge is meaningless.

I think you should have a "I support child's play" button for a desert bus button.

I think EximWorks would work very well as a button.

I thought I would like the five-button set better, but after seeing the three-button set with words I'm definitely sold on that one.
Signatures are dumb. I'm glad I don't have one.

There are a few options I haven't seen mentioned...

Yummies brand logo
Fun with Microwaves - A microwave! .. and an emboldened statement such as "FUN!" ?
Les Adventures de Mimi et le Bicyclette Magique
and I don't know why, but...
Kathleen's "You may not know!"
"LRR för 4 av 5 toasts"

OOOH OH OH OH OH... what about one with half Gibb and half Death Eater Mask and it says "From Yeti to Death Eater"

We're supposed to wear "pieces of flair" at Lush, but nobody makes you, so I never did. Now if I go back to Lush upon my return to Victoria, I'll have some to wear!

Speech bubble, pointing up saying 'In England' - that's closest you came to a catchphrase...

And 3 button combo - looks great...

i really would like to see the COMEDY: SERIOUS BUISNESS quote on a button, with a picture of a different crew member on every one, it could be a really cool series of buttons. Maybe a different colour background for all of them too

I'd totally wear LRR cuff links.

For the LRR logo - 3 buttons + words
For additional buttons:
-Runners logo w/ or w/o "Runners" on it
-Logos of Business in videos
-Toast
-The icons for the various video types: "cH", "Phail", "ISC" etc, with appropriate colours
-WWLLRD? (What would Loading Ready Run Do?)

Also, I'd totally sport a 2"x9" LRR banner sticker on my laptop (and other sizes in other places) if they were available. I use to have a friend's banner sticker there until the band broke up, and I got asked about them ALL the time. It would be good promo along with the business cards I shell out.

"Welcome to The Phailhaus" with umlauts, which I cannot do on computers.
"I have fun with microwaves"

I don't know, I can't think of any more...
