How did you com to the site?
Simple thread just to show how your life led to this site. Also your progression within the site.
For me it went something like this.
Unforgotten Realms ---->(long time) ----> The Escapist ----> Unskippable -->(around the fifth episode of Unskippable) -->LoadingReadyRun (Videos ---> LRRcasts ---> Forum(first forum I ever joined))

Harry Potter ----> a certain strip from the webcomic Questionable Content relating to Harry Potter ----> Reading through the QC archive at 3 o clock in the morning ----> Link on the Author's Comments to a post by Tycho at Penny Arcade ----> The link was just to to the main page, and so, two years ago, it would have taken me to the rant, but now all I saw was ----> Gabe's post about Desert Bus ----> Decided it would be the last link I would click on before going to sleep ----> Over the next 72 hours, I spent about 10 of them sleeping, and most of the rest of them watching Desert Bus ----> Slowly watched all of the videos, then came here to the forums!
Or, I could just say "desert bus".

Was in English class. Jeremy Petter went to the front to rep Desert Bus 1. I checked it out, stopped by, and went from there.

If I recall correctly it would have been Ars Technica --> Desert Bus --> LRR
Re: How did you com to the site?
I think it was
College ---> Some obscure webcomic that doesn't exist anymore ---> list of a bunch of webcomics ---> Penny-Arcade ---> Desert Bus ---> videos ---> Podcasts ---> Forum
I think the podcast contests and podcast/thread interactions were a great way to get people to the forum. They definitely pulled me in.

Re: How did you com to the site?
I'm not certain which chain of subjects led me here, per se...
But I do remember the approximate time when I first heard got on the forums, of course. Let's see, it was.. uhh... seven years ago, collective-relative? That sounds right.
Nine months here, fourteen in Tenochtitlan 1387-88 before that, one spent observing the construction of the Aelian Wall, three interviewing Jamyang Chojey and the Drepung school, another sixteen back here, preceded by those four in Jerusalem during the revolts, ten traveling between Edo and Osaka with that band of Taoists, eighteen accidentally stuck in remote Great War Switzerland (god that was a pain), another five wandering Van Deiman's Land, six studying neolithic toolmaking, and then the first two again spent here.
So that's... what, twenty-seven months ago concurrent to your perceptions? And I'd been watching for about... sixteen months collective-relative, or seven present-concurrent? Sounds right. I lurked for a bit. Although I can't for the life of me recall what was going on then that would have drawn me here, specifically...

Re: How did you com to the site?
I was friends with Graham in elementary school but I did not have much to do with him in high school. In my first year of university I ran into Graham on the bus and he told me about the site and gave me a LRR business card (It's like porn but better). A couple of weeks later I went to LRR and found it awesome. A few months later I joined the forums but I did not start posting a lot until about a year later when I had a job with an internet connection.

Re: How did you com to the site?
On & off I become a frequent reader of BoingBoing.net. In June of '07 they had the following post about Shake Hands With Danger, earthmoving vehicle safety film. They also posted a comment from forum member Sean, linking to the "Shake Your Hands" video remix on LoadingReadyRun. I loved the video & bookmarked it, not paying too much attention to anything else thinking the big blue website was another video archive.
A week or so later I dug up the "Shake Your Hands" link so I could record an MP3 of it & then decided to check out the main page to see what else I might like. By then "Gorgeous" was the newest vid. I thought it was hilarious & watched it three times in a row. Over the next week or so I gradually made my way down the video page watching everything that looked interesting. Then lost track of the vids I'd already seen & just started at the bottom & made my way up to the top of the archive again.
Having enjoyed the entire archive & now waiting an entire week for each new video I decided to check out the forums for more LRR content. Then the podcasts. Now 2,552 posts later, here I am.
