PAX

Postby Lord Chrusher » 04 Aug 2009, 23:34

Being a lazy, forgetful person I have not yet arranged accommodation for myself for PAX. I am a little worried that I have left it too late. Anyone want to help me out in this regard?

Please do not turn this into a 'I wish I could go but I am in Australia' or 'I can not wait until PAX East' thread although I known that it will happen anyway.

Actually Chrusher, you might try the PAX forum over at paxsite.com - there's a hotel room share thread there for exactly this purpose. :)

As far as PAXEast, its still over 200 days away, so I don't see anything major coming out of there for a while.

Isn't it just a tad ironic that we're complaining about being labeled complainers when otherwise we'd be passive? :)

I'd love to get out and about overseas and PAX would be an awesome time and place. But if I'm going to holiday I'm not going to lay that money down for just a weekend or two, and I've got one week afterward before exams.

As they say in Quebec, "le sigh".

Sorry Australia you were used as an example because you are the farthest away.

Thanks Sable I will look into that.

I have decided to avoid the fallacy of sunk costs and not go to PAX. Sure I lose the fifty dollar registration fee but I can better use the few hundred dollars I would spend traveling to and staying in Seattle traveling in Europe.

So then, what are the other people planning to do for PAX? I figure we shouldn't let a topic like this go to waste, and seeing as PAXEast is still over 200 days away, lets turn this into the LRR Planning thread for PAX.

I would expect LoadingReadyRun fans attending PAX would like to meet up at some point.

Sable and I went the last couple years and it was great, but this year we're out of money (cursed weddings and their associated money-sinking capabilities!). We may be trying for PAX East, though. I've never been to the East Coast before.

you PaxEast people fail rather critically at attending a Con that LRR can reasonably get to.

You LRR people fail at going to cons to which we PAXEast people can reasonably attend.

it's much more reasonable for each of you to individually get out east than for 8 of us to go together.

We are already east...
Plus it would be far more efficient for you 8 to come to where we easties will be.

efficient in the grand scheme of things, yes, but it's much easier for each of you to say "I'm gonna go to pax west" then it is for us, collectively to organize a trip to Pax east.

Or, perhaps, and I don't know if you thought of this, Master Wiggins, you are being a tool to your fans again... just a thought...

It's strict numbers. For me to get out to PAXSeattle, it would cost me roughly $800 dollars total, which being jobless, is very difficult to make within less than a month. For PAXEast, I am already seeing flights and hotel costs equaling less than $400, and an overall cost of about $500. With over 200 days to get a job and make that money, I think PAXEast will be easier for us East Coast people.

Also, we have Alex.

I don't know about you guys, but as I see it, PAX isn't that great. Me, next year, I'm trying to go to Connecticon. Mainly because a LARGE number of webcomic artists whose work I read will be there. That is, at the moment, the largest selling feature of a con to me. I don't read Penny Arcade, and no one I care about lists PAX or PAXEast on their lists, so...
I can put my hands in my head, and I can laugh it in the face.
