Postby Graham » 12 Aug 2009, 14:00

Ladies and gentlemen. Gentlemen and ladies. Runners all.

LoadingReadyRun has a panel at this year's Penny Arcade eXpo!

Sunday, 12:00PM - 1:00PM in the Unicorn Theatre

We'll all be there, and it's gonna be a fun time for everyone.
So... be there!

You are making me very sad that I can't come. :(

Edit: Since James was right, one of the parts I always enjoy about the LRRcasts is discussions of 'games as art,' or gaming as a medium beyond "hurr shooty." Seeing as the LRR crew are intelligent, articulate and tend to be gamers at heart, I would love to hear your thoughts on the evolution of gaming and its merits as a medium alongside films and graphic novels.

From a Video Guys standpoint, I'd like to hear about your experiences, successes and problems with being an online-only presence. I think in some places this is called "New Media," but I would like to hear about how you guys want to grow LRR and in what direction - whether traditional advertising and growth for non-traditional media works, or what you have to do differently to get 'on the scene.'

Also, I will be going to PAX East, with any luck. PAX is pretty much the only con/event I attend because getting out of Alaska is hysterically expensive, though that may change when Rose and I move.

As per usual when we make these announcement threads. Please don't make a post that says in some way or another that you won't be able to make it. Mayhaps give us suggestions as to what we should talk about.

Or, if you can't make it, maybe let us know about larger conventions near you that we might be able to consOder attending in the future.

May this panel perhaps be filmed?

Tim isn't able to attend, but we'll try to film it regardless.
Matt brings up a good point, let us know if there's cons near you we should look into.

Stuff to talk about, eh? Hmmmmmm.

Well you know how you often make jokes/references to video games or possibly "obscure" subject matter, but still try to do it in such a way that people unfamiliar with it will still get a laugh, but won't come over heavy-handed to those that are familiar? Maybe you can talk about the difficulty of stuff like that, integrating niche interests into a popular media? I dunno...

I will be there and would love to help out in any way I can!

Things I'd like to see/hear in an LRR-panel that I haven't seen or heard in previous panels:

* An "evolution of LRR" video, comparing stuff from the various seasons to other stuff
* Improving a scene based on suggestions!
* "Ask Dr. Matt" live!
* Taking questions via Twitter from the people who can't be at the panel

I am so excited to meet you guys in person! And to touch Matt's silken, silken hair... kidding!

Since it's Penny Arcade's expo, I imagine you will have to talk about Child's Play and Desert Bus for Hope. So the genesis of that, potential plans for this year, etc.

This is a pretty big deal. Hope it goes well for you guys!

Yeah, I think one of the big topics for you guys is to discuss the work you have done/will be doing with Child's Play and DBFH. Maybe discuss future hopes for those two.

Which means a screening of "Desert Bus Killed the Internet Star," a snippet of the recap from the first year, clips of The Shavening of Paul, or your review of Desert Bus from the first one is mandatory.

And the more that I think about it the more that I agree that you talking about Child's Play/this year's DBFH is necessary.

But I have to ask for those who have been to the LRR @ PAX panels in the past: Approximately what percentage of the audience doesn't know who LRR are? I recall the KeiKon panel podcast noted that almost everyone in the room knew who you were. And with the site getting more exposure due to the Unskippable vids, maybe a more generalized experience would be best.

OH! And if you don't film a T-shirt ad before or after, that would be very, very sad.

Personally I can't wait for a rap battle between Paul and 64K, but for something that epic I'd want to be there in person.

Not sure if it has already been asked, but will there be some kind of extracurricular LRR event during PAX weekend like there was last year at Hurricane Cafe (I think that was the name of the place)? Or is it just too early to tell at this point?
