The Metal Gear Solid Box

Postby Unimatsuriku » 20 Nov 2005, 18:15

Basicly, my idea was that you get a basic cardboard box, large enough for a person to fit in, you hide under it, and see how far you can get without being caught - ala MGS.

Of course it'd require somone giving the boxed person directions and comands or somthing maybe. I'm not sure exactly how the mechanics of it would work, but I'm sure you guys could improvise with the idea.

I also thought Solid Snake would be cool in Smash Bros. Down and B would make the box appear, it'd act like a shield but it'd be flamable and easy to break, plus he'd be unable to attack while it'd be up.

But you know thats just me and it's off topic, thanks for the comment.

I've always wanted to make a sorta Smash Bros Plus, with a whole bunch of new characters and items. I could totally see snake as one of the characters. I believe I also thought of putting in various webcomic and anime characters from the time.

But... isn't the Metal Gear franchise kinda sorta PS2-exclusive?

they released twin snakes for GC, it was Metal Gear Solid and MGS2:SOL, except MGS was remastered to look like, and have the controlls for 2.

Would you trust this lot giving directions to someone who would be essentially blind? That goes beyond 'Sheer Stupidity' to the realm of 'Oh dear god please no'. Be fucking hysterical though.

ok... here's the plan

Postby Joseph Duchesne » 25 Nov 2005, 14:07

You get walkie-talkies (preferably camo headset ones) and have one guy hidden/crouched in a MGS-like position nearby(see: http://www.gamecritics.com/feature/prev ... reen02.jpg) , or watching the whole thing through a laptop/survalance. And you try to sneak into a store/mall/tim hortons. And then when you get caught you get to try again (maybe) or again somewhere else... and then maybe overlay a HUD or something cool. But the box should have eye holes and, of course, be labled "This End Up \/". (Andy: would that be truely ironic?)

Maybe just have a bloke walking round in a shop or outside a shop, etc. talking on a mobile phone. Eventually if something ridiculous happens he'll be trying really hard not to laugh, just adding to the light-heartedness of the situation.

The real problem is trying to film it without making it too obvious...

Well, I walked around with my pants and underpants hanging below my ass without anybody noticing that we were filming. So it shouldn't be that overly obvious.

"I swear it," said the other mother. "I swear it on my own mother's grave."

"Does she have a grave?" asked Coraline.

"Oh yes," said the other mother. "I put her in there myself. And when I found her trying to crawl out, I put her back."

The "person in a box being given commands by someone else" made me think of the old TI-994A "programming language" called TURTLE.

It was essentially BASIC, but moved a cursor around the screen, and the commands you gave it were for drawing patterns, designs, etc...

Perhaps you could reenact this out on a huge deserted parking lot or something. Even give the person inside the box a can of spray paint, because in TURTLE, you had the "pen up" and "pen down" commands that would dictate whether or not his movements would leave a line or not...

Chalk would work better than spraypaint...
