You guys may want to be reeeeally careful with this one. I heard on mythbusters they tried putting a lava lamp on a stove, and it exploded sending shards of glass all over the place. Enough to give life threatening injuries.

I admit, my battery suggestion was a bit much. ^^;

After looking around, it seems that in certain conditions, grapes or onions will spark in the microwave. LINKY!!! After some more internet searching, I also suggest a tied off baloon with a little water in it. (Although it seems people use condoms more often for this "experiment", your choice.)

Also, why not try a new spin on the old "Plastic milk" trick (LINKY AGAIN!!!) and microwave a combination of milk and vinegar?

Manufacturing a microwave big enough would cost an astronomical amount.
and have to be assembled in space, in fact.

Lego

Fish (dead please), for a really long time

A watch
Amidst the mists and fiercest frosts,
With barest wrists and stoutest boasts,
I thrust my fists against the posts,
And still insist I see the ghosts.

Excellent Idea.

Call it "Will it do Something Really Cool when you nuke it." Cue C64 version of Price Is Right theme song.

Put an 8 ball inside!! Then shake it afterwards to see if you can still get an answer :P

Edit:

On a side note every time I ask my 8ball if someone is inside I always get a postitive answer from it.

Although I just tried after typing that now its telling me to ask again later, must tired being 3am in the morning here.
It was really too big:

I give you this instead

I'd like to see a large amount of silly putty. It probably won't do anything except get really runny, but knowing how many other weird qualities it has, you'll never know unless you see it.

Oh, if you can, make it glow in the dark. See if it looks like radioactive waste when you're done :P

Wow, there are some things I wouldn't have thought about, although i do know about the "Grape trick", we just forgot about it (if you listened to the podcast)

I do wanna keep batteries out of this since the disaster with the furby; which left everything in the microwave and anything we touched around there have this horrific chemical smell. I picked up the furby to trash it just with 2 fingers and my whole hand smelled like chemical death for the rest of the day.

Also the lava lamp would be rather bad after seeing that mythbusters episode where they heated one up to exploding with gigantic fatal shards of glass.
