A Whip in Time

Postby Splunge » 11 Apr 2008, 16:44

Cast: Graham, Paul, Morgan, Ash, Jer, plus at least 1-2 more of your choice.
Video opens on a random sketch video in progress, with Morgan and extra characters (not Ash or Jer) on screen acting out roles. Paul is behind camera and Graham is handling boom mic. Camera angles should reflect natural flow of a sketch
The script comes to a whip-transition, and Paul whips the camera off to arrive at...the same scene. (Note: from here on, all scenes should be single take with stationary tripod mounted camera.
Actors express confusion: Something was supposed to happen in the whip, they know it was, but no extra scene occured. All participants are now playing themselves. Graham comes into shot, tells them to try again, and they repeat the last lines, whip out, and arrive back on scene again.
At this point, the sketch is forgotten, as there's obviously something wrong with the camera. Graham and Paul come back into shot and discuss the issue, and they decide to try just a whip on its own, no script. Paul moves back around and whips the camera to...

Ash's bathroom, with her in nothing but a towel, as in Computer Envy. She is understandably annoyed at the sudden appearance of a camera and several LRR cast members into her bathroom, and expresses such displeasure. The crew is also somewhat confused and disoriented. Morgan suggests to Paul that he 'whips it out', (which is misinterpreted by Ash), and Paul whips out to...
A park (or similar outdoor or exposed environment), only to find that Ash has been brought along for the ride this time, still in her towel. This causes her to get angrier, but the other cast members note that they have inexplicably changed costumes, so *something* in the whip mechanism must be working. They try to placate Ash by telling her that the next whip should get her a new set of clothes, and they're off again...
Next scene is another random indoor scene, similar to the location for Super Secret Surprise. Ash, and Morgan find themselves in the Witch and Bear costume (Ash notes that this isn't much of an improvement), and they note that they appear to have landed next to Jer, who is in the muscle suit. They ask Jer what he's doing there, and apologise for the costume whipping confusion. Jer makes some vague acceptance of their apology, implying that he was actually already in the muscle suit, and they just happened to land next to him at the time. He leaves, and an extra cast member suggests that, since Whipping in the normal fashion (whipping to the right) is getting them nowhere, they try whipping to the left to take them back. Paul comes back into view to explain that they've never tried that before, and they have no idea what might happen. The cast takes a vote and agree to try an alternate whip, paul tells them to hang on, and then whips the camera while holding onto it from the front, so that he takes up the bulk of the screen.
The whip goes wild, and all we see is Paul hanging on for deal life while various blurred backgrounds whip past behind him. he eventually loses his grip on the camera and flies off, disolving into the random backgrounds.
The camera finally ends its whip, leaving the rest of the cast, including Ash, back in the starting scene. They all express relief that it's over, when Graham notices Paul is gone. As they hypothesise on his whereabouts, we see the entire original cast come in through a side door, camera and boom mic in hand, ready to start filming the scene, demonstrating that they have ended up back in time. Sketch ends with non-whip Graham starting a 'What the fuck' line, cut to black for a false ending, then come back on Paul waking up on the LRRumble rocks, confused as to his location, and wandering off grumbling about how he's going to get back.

... an outdoor scene. The only problem is, the scene was supposed to be inside an office or kitchen. There is a desk with a computer on top of it, or a dining room table with four chairs. The crew is now visibly confused. Graham and Paul start talking to Morgan and Jer, asking what they did to the camera, and they tell a story about using it at Jer's place. The camera whips by itself this time, but now they are in Matt's bedroom. Matt screams in terror as they have appear out of nowhere and he was playing his latest game: Professor Lay-men and the Bi-Curious Village (or any other porno video game title you want). Now everyone is thoroughly confused and equally uncomfortable.

...Or that. Though even funnier is Ash in the bear suit, Morgan in the muscle suit, and Jer in the witch's costume.

Sounds fun, I like the final punch line with the trip back in time, I'm less keen on the Paul & camera's wild ride. It just doesn't seem to fit with the rest of the scenario.

My name is not written here and this joke is old.

I nth this suggestion, where n is the number of times everyone has shown approval of this idea. At least everyone before this post.
My train of thought is more like a roller coaster that has loop de loops and no safety bars.
