Gentleman Cooking

Postby The Jester » 07 Aug 2008, 18:11

How about a video about how gentlemen prepare their food, and what the ultimate gentleman's food is?
(I imagine the preparation to largely consist of summoning the butler, but hey, that might not be the funniest way to take this)

Gentle-MAN Cooking? Might hold some promise. :)
My train of thought is more like a roller coaster that has loop de loops and no safety bars.
I don't know if I'm tall enough to ride.

Also, a cool idea for a Man Cooking would be like...a giant fucking burger. Who's with me?

Could the story guy (Graham) do it? Or would it just be better for the guys to do it natural and not as a character?

Of course, I think Andy would be the best for doing "Gentle-MAN cooking."

I still stand by my suggestion a while back about a Man Cooking version fo British High Tea.

Imagine, mini finger sandwiches OF FIRE, cookies IN THE SHAPE OF CHICKS, and tea SO HOT IT COULD MELT YOUR FACE OOOOOOFF.

Also, the all important extension of the little finger. When doing anything. Fingers must be extended at all times!

That didn't sound wrong

*Stereotypical high class British accent- "The most important thing to remember in Gentleman cooking is to first select the proper help."

Gestures to a line of people dressed as servants.

"An actual Gentleman would select a cook with a fine respectable appearance, though not as respectable as his own, and high talent in the kitchen and manners but little to no intelligence in other regards. It goes without saying that a chef with aspirations to a greater occupation has no place working for a real Gentleman, these, eh, 'people' are disloyal and give the food a poor taste. Haa."

etc.

But of course there must be an actual recipe and actual cooking otherwise this isn't MAN-cooking. However the Gentleman aspect can be done in things like the proper way to summon the chef, the proper way to dismiss food when it is "unpalletable" and the proper way to chew, swallow, compliment, and everything besides the proper fork use as that's all too obvious to a Gentle-MAN.

(I so want to hear the HAAA!!! put into a overly done gentleman style voice.)

Depending on what you define as proper help goes by not only if it is upper class British but the period in time. Proper help would usually be some Indian servants (would be a task getting the set design and costumes right). A constant lambasting of either the fuzzy wuzzies or the Jeries, moustaches and banter.
