Paul (the trailer)

Postby Unclever title » 03 Aug 2009, 08:41

After reading the thread here it made me think of you guys doing something similar to the cardboard man video basically parodying a movie trailer.

Except here instead of being about Paul, it's about Paul... and then there's Graham playing the part of Graham, you get the idea.

I don't know, its hilarity would indirectly depend on the trailer (the rest depending on Loading Ready Run, but considering the Graham Stark - Tony Stark the Paul - Paul Saunders dynamic is not too far.

Plus we all know Paul's really an alien, well he's at least half-Saiyan.

So... I guess the next step (if this idea is used) is to get a trailer from Paul (the movie).

Either that or yalls can make up your own Paul film... like a parody of dragonball Z.... or something.

This is clearly not one of my best ideas.
My train of thought is more like a roller coaster that has loop de loops and no safety bars.
I don't know if I'm tall enough to ride.

This is a great idea. It should just be a trailer for a movie about Paul. You have the deep announcer voice programing how great it is and lots of dynamic editing but the shots are just of Paul doing normal stuff (like eating, getting dressed, going to work). A fun Extra gag could be at the very end he could be leaving his home and it could just explode, because every movie trailer should have at least one explosion.

"Coming this October, the inspiring story of one man... and his fight."
The same idea as him doing normal stuff, but with action music. Like putting a banana in the blender for a smoothie has this MGS style heavily orchestral music to it. Which is drowned out by the blender. Also something I though of. The tag line. "This is why." A reference to "This is why I'm Paul." Then the name of the movie. Paul. Which, the image I imagine would look like this.

It was in paint, so it's a little meh, but still pretty cool.

Do this, but have someone else play Paul. I.e., "...coming this holiday season, Graham Stark is... Paul Saunders in Paul! Story of a Misunderstood Genius."

I dunno which idea I like better: Paul playing himself, or someone else playing Paul. If the latter, Paul has to show up, slightly annoyed that they are making a movie about him without his input. And it has to be outlandish shit too...

Haha! Bill singing "This is why I'm Paul" with Paul standing to one side looking kind of quizical.

Bill: I'm Paul because I am, you ain't cos you not.

Paul: Wha ... huh?
Nothing to see here.

OR he could be helping film it, but not commenting on it at all. Morgan and Bill all "NO, PAUL WOULD DO THIS", Paul just sitting behind the camera.

Paul as the technical advisor. Yes.

Graham, the actor playing Paul: "What's my motivation here? Does Paul just have a love of robotic ball-kicks?"

Paul: "Yes."

I think it would be way funnier if Paul was there but acting like it wasn't a movie about him at all, just holding the boom / shooting / whatever else Paul does.

Or Paul plays all the extras.
~I'm probably not serious~
Oh and you can just call me Dave.
No need for the whole screen name.

Or maybe just audition footage. Like, Paul auditioning to be himself?
(Wait a minute, did I steal that from a Tom Holt book?)

A job interview?
'So, what skills can you bring to the role of Paul?'
'A beard? I...am Paul.'

"I must say Mr.... Sanders..."
"Saunders."
"Look, your portrayal of teh role is 2 dimensiol and utterly unrealistic."
"But I AM Paul!"
"It's a little late for method acting now, Mr Sanders."

Nope, you stole that from a Lewis Black bit. Where he went to audition for a role in a show based on HIMSELF and SOMEONE ELSE GOT THE PART.

Nope, I read it in Tom Holt. Valhalla to be precise. A guy is doomed to audition to be himself, in front of an audience of incarnations of himself, die on stage every day and then do it again the next day.

Which is funny because mine actually happened too...
