There. Another person. Happy?
Expect the rogues gallery of guests to vary greatly. Or, not be there at all.

No crazy German news this week either. Odd...

As for the drum, it's better than finding it in the local water supply.

All of my ads were for depression-related goods.

I find this most amusing of all. Although PhC.S.I. was also totally hilarious.

To be fair, I've always wondered how fish would swim around in a zero g environment. I can't wait.

Kathleen seemed extra exuberant this time. If you sedated Matt to get him in, did you get Kathleen drunk?

(Guys. He's posting on the forums. Don't you think he'd be not doing that if Kathleen was around?)

(Or maybe she just went to the powder room, and he had nothing better to do for 2 minutes.)

I think Australians are getting a bad rap, over that barrel murder thing.

It is not like we do that all the time. I can think of only one other time it happened. Body In Barrel In Bank Murders

Also, loves the Phailing House.

There was something throughly wonderful about the rocket full of fish bit. So thank you for that. And thank you, Sweden, for finding new uses for German fish.

Okay, so let me get this straight.

So... a payload of Swedish Fish got launched into space. But the fish are, in actuality, German. Germany, of course, is a traditional manufacturer of candies, perhaps most notably gummy bears. Gummy bears are the direct evolutionary precursor to Swedish Fish. The fish in question were sent into space via Swedish Rocketry, whose direct evolutionary precursor was, of course, German Rocketry, as the Germans largely pioneered the technology of rockets, perhaps most notably with the V2 Rockets of WWII.

Such rockets were deployed frequently in the war against numerous English targets, perhaps most notably London. London is where over 160 pheral phelines, both cats and their direct evolutionary precursors, kittens, were rescued in addition to phrogs, newts, and perhaps most notably their evolutionary precursors, phish.

So what, exactly, was it that got shot into space?

You know what amuses me?

Well, obviously, yes, you do.

But do you know what *else* amuses me?

The thought that a couple of people made a video in an evening or whatever in an apartment somewhere with a video camera and a computer and then put it on the internet, and then someone can comment on a forum thread and say, "This video is all wrong because _____."

I'll tell you what else amuses me: Fish in space. Because in zero-g, water outside of a container sort of globs together into a generally spherical shape, and a fish, in that water, would want to swim. And that fish would swim forward, and emerge from the edge of the water, and then suffocate and die, unable to swim back. Unless we built little watery zero-g apparatus for the fish that they would 'wear,' and they'd be a sort of 3D frame that would maximize the meniscus layer of the surface of the water, holding the glob in tension around the fish's body, and thus allowing the fish to breathe. Which raises a whole other question, because now, while the fish would be able to breathe, he wouldn't be able to make any forward motion.

Such is life. In future sci-fi novels written by Franz Kafka, Gregor will turn into a zero-G fish instead of a cockroach.

See? It amuses me. And no, I'm not Swedish. Why do you ask?

I would think fish would swim around just fine in space. Provided they were contained in a tank with no air pockets. They would most likely swim until they hit a corner and stay there. However, since the water couldn't be oxygenated they would eventually suffocate in they're watery coffins...

Space exploration has never been kind to animals. I believe only two monkeys ever returned and lived longer than a few days. Russia was fairly kind with there dogs recovering most of them, although I'm not sure how long they lived back home. The best creatures for space survival seem to be the least complicated. Bugs, fish, bacteria and fungi.

The real question is how would a bird act in zero g? Would it try and fly or just float there...

Also Alja, are you channeling Detective Riley in your post?

Nice to see Morgan back on the Whateverish Thing.. thanks largely to Paul's Dreamcast.

Okay.. I have to say, I'm thrilled Vancouver got the 2010 Olympics.. I much prefer the Winter Olympics anyway.. I havent watched a Summer Olympics since Atlanta.

But come on.. Beijing over Toronto for 2008?! Honestly, I'm used to and perfectly fine with the whole damn country being against us.. but when did the whole God damn WORLD turn coat?

What a human rights Nightmare.. I can only imagine the number of people killed, threatened to be killed, completely stripped of all their worldly possessions and left to rot in the street during the last 7 or 8 years because of those Olympics...... Things probably arent going so well over in China either.
