Loading Ready Run Awesome Event Time

Postby Brad » 21 Mar 2008, 12:21

Listen up you sons of mothers!
Brad is coming back down to civilization at the end of this month. In celebration, he, being I, am going to throw as many friends and acquaintances I can muster together off of a bridge! And by bridge I mean the Whistler Zip-Trek. Tentative date is:

APRIL 12th. We need at least 10 people confirmed to get the group rate. The base rate is $98 for participants 15-64. They don't have an advertised group rate, so it may be time for my awesome skills of jedi negotiation to come into play at that point.

That's basically it. Cast, crew, forumites: let's jump off a bridge in a manner less frightening and longer lasting than bungee jumping!
All hail the great deku tree!

No, it's more like a 2-hour long zipline through the tree tops.

Kathleen and I will be there.

I'm about 100 miles away.
But I guess if I start walking now, I might get there by the end of the month.

AFK.

Yes. It looks like a great deal of fun. I will give them a call sometime this weekend to sort out how booking works and if we need numbers in advance and such. I have a friend who did it in Costa Ricca as a "canopy tour" through the jungle. He might join us too actually.
I figure it is the closest thing to flying without jet packs, hang gliders or mutant powers.

That sounds awesome.

One day, I'm going to do that.

Must add that to the list of things to do before I die.

Shooting ON the zipline, unlikely.
Morgan breaking his arm, it's a foregone conclusion. Even if he's not there.

I can just picture Morgan sitting half naked on his couch, entire blender in hand, drinking his morning (afternoon, technically) smoothie, and suddenly, as he's lifting it for another gulp, his arm folds in half in several wrong directions for no reason, and the first thought that runs through his head is sheer surprise, and the second involves his impending troubles with either DOTA or wanking.

OR! hes playing DOTA and Wanking, reaches for his blender, but it slips out of his hand as he brings it to his mouth, and drops it on his elbow

Toronto has canopy? I mean, I know that the smog is thick, but I didn't think you could walk on it. I'm going to be up that way in the summer on business. By which I mean, I'm going to be up around a cheap hotel and convention centre and about a 500 metre radius around it in the summer. I wish I could zipline from my hotel room to the bar...

It's almost 3 hours from Toronto. I WISH there were a canopy in downtown Toronto.

I did see a guy doing a stunt where he went down a zipline thing from the top of Toronto city hall. It wasn't really a zipline, because he was sort of climbing down it. I only saw it when he was at the bottom, though.
