Olympic coverage
The good news is Brian Williams will be CTVs anchor for the 2010 olympics.
The bad news of course is this means that 60% of the coverage will be him in the studio rather than showing any actual events.

Brian Williams is almost as amazing as Ron McLean.
The Olympics are awesome because they involve both of these supra-human personalities.

Metaphor
Hockey night in canada being on another station is kind of like Monday night football being on ESPN instead of ABC.
I am actually sad that CBC doesn't get the Olympics. I like there coverage better than the American stations.

Awesome! Paul is playing Darwinia! I've been on that game for the past two weeks & love it.
I have Bioshock, I have The Orange Box, so what am I playing? A five dollar game I bought from Half Price Books. No regrets!

Probably because while they do occasionally focus on the Canadian athletes, they actually care about other countries.
NBC's coverage aggravates me to no end. If there isn't a US athlete, they don't televise the event, and if there is, no other country gets screen times.
Good to hear about Brian Williams, though!

Yeah. That pisses me off. I'm still rooting for Mongolia in the Wrestling championships, and I've never seen 'em play.

I'm kinda known for having a stupidly wide variety of accents, and my natural accent actually doesn't exist (Received pronunciation) as an "accent". That said whenever I try Scottish it always ends up blending into Irish.

I got BioShock a couple days ago, only to find it won't run on my computer for some unknown reason

I have the same problem.
According to a Scottsman one of my co-workers once spoke with, the difference is that "The Irish go like this: 'deddley do, potatos!'"
I've been known to begin speaking in one accent, and finish speaking in a completely different accent entirely.(or no accent whatsoever.)
Me? I recently bought The Experiment, only to discover that it flatly refuses to run on an Intel-manufactured graphics card. With my desktop suffering narcolepsy, I probably won't end up playing the game for another 3 years. Without a PS2 to play Odin Sphere or Okami on, I think my most-played game lately is Wings 3D(no, a game!)I mean, that ASCII gem, Dwarf Fortress.
Also, you guys need to add Strikethrough tags.

While I have to agree to some degree about that little fact that NBC doesn't televise anything American Olympians are in, NBC Universal does in fact cover all the events. NBC Universal consists of CNBC, MSNBC, TELEMUNDO, NBC, Oxygen, Bravo, USA, Sleuth, MUN2TV, and SciFi, as well as Universal Studios. The majority of those channels do cover the happenings of the Olympics. Another thing to remember that if you consider the number of qualifiers, quarters, semis, and finals in each of the 41 events (302 finals alone), there just isn't enough airtime for all the footage to be played with equal attention.
I am not saying that there isn't this whole "USA! USA!" force behind NBC, but it isn't as corrupted as some may say.
I like Brian Williams too, but what about Bob Costas? The Olympics are like his only gig.

Perhaps it is only by comparison when flipping between NBC and CBC, but... it kind of is.
I'mma be honest
and I know it sounds just as self-centered as y'all hate Americans for being
but on the rare event that I actually am watching the Olympic games, I really don't care that much about the non-American athletes.
Besides, I've seen non-US athletes get time in the spotlight in some events I've watched. I just don't remember very well, since it's been more than a decade since I actually watched any Olympic games.
In other news, I almost burned a tree down in celebration of freedom today.

But anyway, all that NBC socialism aside, (I don't know what that means either...), I like my country and all, but Canada just seems so much more... welcoming... than the US. Perhaps it's the Nanaimo Bars? Or the easy to target Quebeqois? The clean air? OOOOOOR that Canadians really don't see the need to fight any pointless wars in other countries for longer than they should have been there, creating an unstable economy and making their populus a nation of debt-ridden, dissilusioned sheep (offsides? perhaps, but it's how I feel now. Sorry to my American LRRmons.)
Either way, I have considered more than once in the current presidency that Canada looks really good as a viable living option.

You can't cover all of the Olympics, so you have to cover the things that your target audience is most interested in seeing. Otherwise, people are not going to watch, which means that advertisers are not going to pay for commercial space, which means that the station is not going to recoup the ridiculous amount of money it costs to cover the event (isn't that why you said Canada was going to be broadcasting the 2010 Olympics?)
And the truth is that most Americans are most interested in seeing Americans compete. They want to root for the home team. I imagine most people in most countries do.
