Laughing Out Loud (no, really, that's what lol stands for)

Postby ecocd » 08 Sep 2008, 19:42

This was awesome guys (and gal). As a former graduate student that has written, proctored and graded exams for college freshmen, I can't tell you how much I laughed at the teacher gag. There are always a few students that should get a "green exam." Have any of you ever done any formal teaching?

I only started watching from last year's Desert Bus for Hope so Rapidfire is new and the Warriors of Darkness must return in the future.

Dear cast of LRR,

First off, I would like to say how happy I am to get my reply in on time this week. I must again apologize for my tardiness last week.

Second, this video made me very happy today. I had been away from my house from 8am until 10pm with a combination of school, volunteering, and regular work. The above things were timed in such a way that I had breakfast at 7:15 am, and lunch at 10:20pm. All in all, not the best day. However, upon plunking myself down in front of my computer, what should await me but a new LRR video and a Rapid-fire to boot! You guys make life worth living.

It was once again a "classic" LRR video, complete with lots of chuckles and plenty of in-jokes. These are my favorite types of LRR videos, and I must once more thank you for consistent content that never disappoints.

Sincerely,
achesst.

My favorite part of the whole thing? Paul saying "I like birds!"

I don't know why, but Sad Paul always makes me crack up.

I loved Paul the Overlord's bit the best. His description of the whipped topping and his declaration of victory made me lol. I didn't quite get the bits with Paul and Matt as rival carny barkers, though. Perhaps it's something uniquely Canadian, where sideshow callers try to sell tickets on the streets?

EDIT: On a second viewing, are they meant to be political campaigners?

Man, you guys always said that you'd do another Rapidfire at some point, but I'd never imagined it would really happen!

Yaaaaaaaaaaaay!

Right, I just thought you were going for something like this with those hats:

Arguing campaigners make far more sense.

maybe it's the fact that i got up at 1pm and ate three slices of cheese for breakfast before downing a strong coffee and a cigarette, but this was probably the most confused and amused i've been in the 'morning' in a while.

I have to admit, this line I found the most amusing. Was it shirtless Graham that did it for you? Random. Anyways, this one just didn't click for me, all the roaming camera work and music made it feel a bit whimsical (yeah, I know it's comedy). However, everyone else liked it. One thing that does confuse me is I thought the last time you did Rapidfire, it was partly to build up a backlog of videos to cover for you whilst you did LRL. As Desert Bus isn't for another couple of months, hm...

It was a little slow to begin with but it got much funnier as it was introducing new characters. Really good video hope a new Rapidfire II comes soon.

Long time watcher first time poster,
I have to say its fantastic all the way through and Graham's comic english bird watcher is one of the best jokes you guys have done. I love the phailhaus pieces with a passion but this is even better
Also the Camera work is fantastic, and the lighting in the rodriguez riley sketch was incedible, and very csi!

enough Fawning, more videos please
Have you ever fired your gun in the air while screaming 'NyAAAAaaaaagh!'?

you may have noticed the other intro bits? the pundits before the political rally, for instance? the gangsters are the same thing, a goofy little visual gag, leading into the classroom scene.

Graham wrote:I think many of you are confused by the idea of "establishing shots"

That is all.

Unless there's a blur transition, then it's the same scene.

Ah, so it was just for transition. I thought there was some joke with the poses and stuff they were doing that I didn't get.

---

I just caught this (3rd viewing I believe) Morgan's (or should I say, Andrew Shepard's) podium reads "leadership, vision, trousers." Nice little touch there XD

Also who in the crew works at the Grindstone? I take it that it's an actual cafe because "Grindstone Cafe" is legible on the POS screen on the monitor.

Yeah, I didn't get that those were establishing shots either. I don't think that there was enough to tie them to the rest of the scene for me to realize that that's what was going on.

No, she doesn't. The workers at the grindstone allowed us to use it briefly as a location.

I loved it! I think that you should leave out the "season" from the title, though. Rapidfire II 1 sounds funnier to me. Oh, and laser eyes always kick ass.

Morgan's bits were great. I refuse to rephrase that sentence about LRR's resident nudist.

Ah the return of rapid fire,
same great humour
with better production values :)

And trousers

I very much enjoyed this one, but i think the "its a bird" ending joke fell a bit flat. Not the best to end it

LS wrote:I'm really quite excited to see how this progresses. It's almost like seeing how you guys would do one of your old videos if you were to re-make it with your current skills.

Obviously series 2 isn't meant to replace series 1, but still, it's the closest thing to such a direct comparison that I think we're ever likely to get. =D

Bravo guys.

I recently discovered the 2007 Loading Ready Run Awards (I'd somehow completely missed it for 18 months...) and seeing the difference between that and the 2006 LRRies highlighted how much the production quality of these vids was (and is) improving.
And this vid just seemed so professional (the establishing shots really helped that, I thought they were excellent. :-P)

theashigaru wrote:Let me just say that if you do bring back another theme from the last one, Graham and Johnny Blakeborough's would be my pick. "Have you been drinking the internet?" gets me every time...

Seconded - they were hilariouth!

Graham's "Amazing!" as the bird watcher was brilliant, and I really love teacher Paul.

Can't wait for more...
