That's a shame. he wasn't the best novelist on earth, but I own more than a few of his books.

I just found out about this from another site, I'll always remember Jurrassic PArk still one of my favourite films and science fiction ideas.

Well I didn't expect it!

I liked Jurassic Park. Good movie.

Think I actually own The Lost World. Now I'll have to read it... right after I finish 3001: The Final Odyssey.

Damn. :(

Well, I guess this year isn't over, is it?

Gary Gygax, George Carlin, Don LaFontaine, Robert Asprin, Stan Winston, Bernie Mac, Issac Hayes, Heath Ledger, Paul Newman, Bobby Fischer, Richard Wright, Charlton Heston, Sir Edmund Hillary, Jerry Reed, Estelle Getty, Yves Saint Laurent, Sydney Pollack, Alexander Courage, Jimmy Stewart...and I'm sure there's plenty more that passed that slipped my attention.

I kinda hope it's a quiet couple of months, though.

:(

Maybe a few million years from now a sentient species will discover the preserved remains of a mosquito with the blood of Michael Crichton, combine his DNA with that of a modern species, and reconstruct real, living Michael Crichtons on a remote island park so that the public can pay top dollar to watch them write thriller novels. It probably won't end well, though. I know this because I'm a mathematician, and non-deterministic real-life systems can easily be modeled by the fucking DRAGON CURVE.

I got a text this morning from a friend telling me about his death. He's not my favorite author but he holds a special place for me & her. When we were in high school we would get together after school & just crash at her house & read his books. I know.. I know.. we were dorks. We still are.

He will be missed.

I'm sad no one has mentioned my absolutely favorite Chrichton-Based movie:

13th Warrior

It's sad though... 66? I swear he didn't look a day over 45

:?

Uhhhhhh...

 Ohyeah! The title change because Hollywood didn't like 'Eaters of the Dead'. It was pretty okay...not overly 'whoa' worthy, but there was ONE thing in it that I absolutely loved: how our hero gradually learned the 'Northmen's' language, and how it was portrayed in the film: EPIC.

Hold on there. Jimmy Stewart died over 10 years ago.

Sucks about Crichton tho'. My favourite of his novels is "The Great Train Robbery."

I could not believe this. 66 is much too young!

I'm really peeved. All the awesome famous people that I want to meet are dying. This is why I want to become famous, so I can meet all these awesome people! There will be no reason for it if they are all dead! Augh.

I grew up reading this guy's stuff, was a big fan of his books. 66 is much too young, I didn't even know that he had cancer.

It'll be sad knowing that when his final book releases in December, it'll be the last new book I ever read from him....

Sad to see him go.

Oh, wait - I mean the English race car driver, not the American actor, sorry. :(

Not that I don't miss him, too. :?

I almost missed this. Our locations managers came in and started talking about it. And I was like "Really? No way!"

So...that's my story.
-Holy kleenex, Batman, it was right under our noses the whole time!
-Satan wears a bucket hat!
-If tin whistles are made of tin, what are fog horns made of?
-Lewis has AIDS
-Meddle ye not with dragons, for ye are crunchy and good with ketchup
