LRR @ the Vancouver Island Short Film Festival

Postby Paul » 21 Jan 2006, 11:10

Hey everyone!

If you are going to be anywhere near Nanaimo, BC tonight, come out to the Vancouver Island Short Film Festival. Out of the 15 short films being shown, 3 are by LRR!
(30 Minutes or Less, Suspend Your Disbelief, Quantum Documentary)
Not only will you get to watch some great films, but a whole bunch of LRR crew (including Graham and I) are going to be on hand in case we have to accept any awards!

It is all happening at 7:00 tonight (January 21, 2006) at the Caprice Theatre in Nanaimo.

Come say hi!

We're really proud of these awards too, because there was some stiff competition in this festival, and it just means that much more.
Thanks to VISFF and John for such a fun time!

Congrats to Andy on his award and thanks to the whole crew (involved in these vids or not) for making LRR happen.

El Awesomo!

I'm really really glad that 30 minutes or less won best writing because it's one of my favourite if not my favourite LRR movie. I don't care much for suspend your disbelief since I don't really like musicals.

Edit: I take that back. I guess it grew on me and I just remembered it was a musical and not coolness.

Woot for Andy! Suspend your Disbelief ftw!
PS: You did advertise the site while you were there, right? Or have the little logo at the start? Seeing as that would get a lot more people to come, going to the winner of three award's site :P

Oh we plugged the site, and the intro was in front of all three videos.
Which was pretty cool.

Hey guys, fellow filmmaker from the island. Was at the festival last night and took one of your business cards because even after THREE of your movies I couldn't remember the url. Must say that you guys deserved what you got yesterday and I think you were also robbed of Original Music, because that original music you guys did for Suspend was just brilliant. Great writing for 30 Mins too. Funny how out of the 15 there were two 'noir-esque" flicks. Thinking about it I wished we had went "all the way" when it came to the "noir" in Lola as you guys did in 30 Mins, but oh well...good job. Look forward to seeing more of you guys in the future. I was bored this morn and read all of the Roomies comics and they were funny. We seem to have a lot in common, my brother and I used to self-publish a comic when we were in high school and got more interested in movies.
Have a good one and maybe we can get together and collab on something in the future.

You guys did Lola?
I didn't realize when you were saying hi at the end of the festival.
Thanks for the kind words!

To be honest, when we realized there was a real "film noir" styled piece in the lineup, the first thing we thought was "Oh, this is going to be awkward... someone's going to hate us for this..."
At least our parody didn't run right after your actual noir piece.
Definitely keep in touch.

Ya I thought the same. No biggy. You guys really kicked ass at the noir parody. The narration was spot on. I especially loved the "drunk cousin" rant. Great stuff.
I'm in Victoria quite a bit during the week so we could definetly get together. I loved to act, I've never really acted in anything other than my own stuff so yah if you ever need an extra player for one of your vids I'm there.

Have a good one,
Dan F.
