Favorite smell

Postby Cake » 24 Feb 2009, 08:28

I don't know if it's my favorite smell, but it is certainly one of them. I love the smell of fresh cut cedar. My apartment smells like it now (I just tapered some arrow shafts). What is your favorite smell?

Vanilla.

I am powerless against girls in vanilla-scented perfume.

A several-way tie between:

- Fresh-tilled, loamy, fertile soil
- Baking bread
- Really good beer
- Sauteeing herbs

I'm a hobbit at heart.

I think my absolute favorite would be cherries, followed closely by strawberries, oranges, lemons, and apples(mostly because apples don't smell very strongly).

Like Sable, I also really like smells of nature and grilling, and like a salmon, I can smell the difference of Colorado air.

Same here. Also fresh baked Almond Bread. The only situation in which I like almonds.

It's not getting too much female attention that I have a problem with...

Also, I tend to react to girls wearing perfume the same way I react to guys wearing too much cologne.

new books, and old books (in-between-aged ones don't have much of a smell).

Rain.
The ocean.
Coffee, cooking bacon, vanilla, grapefruit, and lamb being grilled with rosemary and lemon.
The wind that comes off a glacier in mid-summer, especially as alpine flowers poke through the melt.

As a kid I loved to clap the erasers for the chalk boards together, walk into the cloud of dust and just smell that stuff up! It was heavenly and I have no idea why...probably brain damage

Snow Drops

Postby Shandi » 24 Feb 2009, 10:51

Aside from the smell of my lover, I thoroughly enjoy that first whiff of winter. It's cold in your lungs and dry in your nose and other than that I can't describe. If you get a chance to smell the "Snow Drops" bath bomb at Lush, that is the smell minus the cold sensation. Maybe if I put it in the freezer...

Lush only sells them at Christmas though. Good thing I don't have a bath tub so I saved mine. That's another smell I like, the first steps into a Lush store.

so this is probably wierd, but you know how certain people smell a certain way? I love the way people I'm really really close to smell... yeah, its creepy, but they do say that scent is the strongest sense tied to memory

Fresh cut grass on a winter or fall day
But beyond that is a good campfire out in the woods.

campfire, beer, newly opened cd/ videogame, fresh clothes out of the dryer(despite some cheesy commericals we have seen in recent years) are all winners in my books.

freshly cut lawn and plantlife in general can be pleasant but my allergies kind of ruin it.

I agree with the comments made about vanilla, very attractive scent for a woman to have. But i can't really think of a less manly smell, so lets keep it on the women. If your in a group of guys and a guy shows up smelling of vanilla there would probably be some akward silence.
we sometimes catch a window, a glimpse of what's beyond
