I haven't read that, but I hear the ending is really sweet!

Don't patronize me.
I'm not, I haven't actually read it but everyone I talk to that has says it's a great book with a fantastic ending.

I've tried reading the Bible a few times, but I just couldn't get into it. The characters were very unbelievable and the dialogue was just way too cheesy for my tastes.

...I'm going to get punched but I'm actually being serious here, I'm not trying to be anti-religious though I realise it might look that way.

Actually it ends pretty epicly, it ends with Genocide. Poor Moroni, had to live out the end of his days as the last of the Nephites

I too am currently reading the Book of Mormon (I think this is my 4th time through or something like that) and I just finished reading Children of the Mind. I started New Moon yesterday (much to the dismay of my guy-friends and the rejoicing of my gal-friends) and like it so far, maybe more so then Twilight (yeah yeah yeah, I liked the book get over it) Next up on my to read list is World War Z and the rest of the Discworld books (I'm up to Pyramids)

So good.

Also I am currently reading The Map That Changed The World by Simon Winchester. It's... not as interesting as I'd hoped.

For school: slogging through Absalom, Absalom! by William Faulkner

For fun: Merlin's Godson by H. Warner Munn. (I love picking up old books I've never heard of at used bookstores, especially fantasy.)

Conrad takes some effort, but it's worth it. Lord Jim is still one of my favorites.

Translating some 14th century latin illuminations. Holy shit holy books be blasphemous in the 14th century!

Edit: Although the 15th and 16th are pretty bawdy, overall as well. Chaucer's Romance of the Rose is pretty damn hilarious in the original Middle English. Here's a hint to get you going: the whole thing. The whole. damn. thing. is a thinly veiled double entendre about cunnilingus.
All hail the great deku tree!

Currently reading Hey Nostradamus! by Douglas Coupland. I'm about half way through it but it's quite good so far.

Ahh! My two favourite authors! Have you read Bluebeard by Vonnegut or Girlfriend in a Coma by Coupland? They're my favourites of their works.

Read Bluebeard last month, haven't read Girlfriend in a Coma. This is the first Coupland book I've ever read actually but I really loved it. Finished it last night.

My favourite Vonnegut that I've read so far was my first, Cat's Cradle.

Hard to be under-rated when no one knows what it is. Seriously, people. Get The Amulet of Sanarkand, the first book in the series, and READ THE HELL out of it.

It's a fantasy novel with comedic footnotes from one of the main characters!

I enjoyed "1984" up until the last third. Completely sucked me out of the plot.

Finished Watchmen last night. ...no longer have any inkling to see the flick. It's just not suited to a 2.5 hour movie.

Really? I loved the whole thing, last third was so tragic and somehow made me sadder than any sort of emotional book as after all of that, he was crushed

currently working through Make Your Own Damn Movie by Lloyd Kaufman for the second time and The God Delusion. But I am a slow reader, just can't sit down after work and read most of the time because TV or video games usually win out in the battle for my time.

Adam Strange - The Man of Two Worlds

I've gone through everything of interest in the public libraries - at least in normal novel format - and am now starting in on the graphic novels in the Young Adult section. Once that's emptied, I'm gunning for the children's library.

I'd rank the last sentence of 1984 up there with the best endings to any novel that I've read, ever...

I'm reading a book for one of my classes called "Listen With the Heart: Relationships and Hearing Loss". It's really good, because even though it is giving stories about how to deal with relationships affected by hearing loss, the advice is very universal to all situations.
