Ok the japanese demo is out via the AC complete DVD and the demo is already on YouTube
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zySU8m15mFg
That's part 1 of 5.
What do you guys think.
I say it looks fantastic and the battle system has potential. I will say that I watched the whole thing and the characters never seemed to level up but maybe I just couldn't read it and also at the start of every fight health seemed to be automatically restored. Not sure if that's just for the demo or maybe they just cut out the healing for the video. So I would like to know more about those potential problems. If you don't have to heal it just means the regular guys are not a threat at all and just practice and ways to potentially level up assuming you do. Also not clear what the whole rating thing is about. I assume the higher rating maybe you get more money or other things
what do you people think.

It looks pretty, and yay for turn base.
I prefer a more steam-punk setting myself, but what will really matter to me is if it's a good game (ie: does it have a good story and compelling characters)... as I don't speak Japanese I had no idea what was going on.
I did like the battle music, felt kinda epic.
But, overall, it didn't do anything to either influence me or deter me from inevitably getting the game... maybe I'm just getting old.

Yeah, Squenix didn't like people talking about their upcoming game : (
I'll probably play it, some day. I've played FF I-VII and I don't plan on stopping now ; )
As to healing before every battle (if that is in fact so): Doesn't change anything, I usually drink potions like other people drink water.

Can't take the sky from me. Again.
What? wrote:If you've only played I-VII, then you in fact stopped 12 years ago.
I had played VII when it was new and I rather young,
And I began playing I (roman 1 ) about... dunno... one year ago, I guess, and am now continuing through all FFs in order. Currently I'm on part VI, though I cheated and played FFVII: Crisis Core before it's time
It will be some time till I get to XIII, as you can imagine.
Can't take the sky from me. Again.

Although the game looks great with a fun (though probably easily abusable) battle system.
The only problem is that I can see myself hating the majority of the characters.. Particularly the one named "Sazh," who has a baby chocobo living in his afro and apparently has the most lines in the game. He seems to have a personality composed of Zell from FF8 and Reno from Advent Children. *sigh*
